Cab Clearance Lights Question

I am trying to isolate an issue where I have puddles of water accumulate in the rear backseat drivers side.

• I have replaced pressure vent and sealed around it with silicon.
• I have replaced third break light and sealed around it with silicon
• seals around the door seem to be in great shape and no visible detection of water entering from door area.
• cab ceiling is dry.
• There are no visible leaks of water coming in around the window.
• Truck does not have a sunroof.
• cab lights on roof top are also new and sealed well with no leak on liner.

What else is there to check? Very puzzled on this one. In the photos, where I am pointing is where I am seeing water accumulate.

Tape pieces of paper on the cab back. Not whole sheets, but smaller pieces to try and localize where it is coming in. You could have a fastener that's not seated or didn't have any sealant placed on the threads. Being it's just in that one location, check all the fasteners that are right around there. Anything that might be around the rubber seal between the bed and cab. Water will travel back uphill when running down ( water tension ) causes headaches trying to find the leaks! Good luck.

I had this same problem and it was my gps antenna. Wasnt too bad to lower the headliner enough to snug it up, I havent noticed anymore water so I never investigated into a new gasket

Our 2012 was the cab vents.... did you test with a hose? we replaced the vents with the updated versions and its been good, difficult to see, originally we thought it was the GPS antenna and resealed the HMTBL, then thought window, but turned out to be the vents.

The only way to confirm is to water test using a small stream of water, never a spray. Start low and SLOWLY work your way up keeping the water on a small specific spot. If it takes some time for the water to show under the seat, run the water in a specific area, then stop and wait a while for water to appear, then repeat until you find the entry location. It is time consuming, but until you work your way from bottom to top in small areas it will be difficult if not impossible to locate the source.

I had water intrusion from the third brake light seal. It was alot of water.

Glad you found the leak.

FWIW, my 2020 EcoDiesel had the the same problem, but on the back window (clear as day -- watched it drip while I was in the touchless car wash!). There is a TSB out on it to replace the 3rd brake light. I went to my local dealer and they wanted to charge me labor. I then went to the parts counter and I picked one up for $32 and went home and put it on in 5 minutes. No more leak.

I did notice the seal was thicker on the new model, likely the case for the HD trucks.

Recently had water in my "new" truck.

1) Verified water behind third brake light and fixed it. Took apart interior to dry things.
2) Discovered cab vents were degraded and leaking. Ordered upgraded ones. Went to reassemble...
3) Discovered sliding back glass leaking. Fixed plugged drains.
4) Tested sunroof drains. Discovered right rear drain went uphill before going down. Rerouted, shortened tube, secured with zip tie.

Yup. Our truck had all four leaks.

Two weeks later got a broken back glass and replaced with a one piece fixed window. Sigh.
