I pulled them out last week and found the plastic around sockets are warped(back-up lamp heat?) and the reflective mat. inside is starting to flake off.

I dried everything with towel and airhose, ran a bead of silicone around sockets and re-installed.

After washing truck yesterday, it's still a problem.

Any ideas, has anyone else had this problem?

I still have 200 miles left on my 36K warranty, will dealer R@R them?

Thanks for any info.

You may have a problem now that you have put sealer on them, but it will be worth a try - - and yes others have had the problen, more with head and parking lights.

We've had several trucks with this problem and have had the splashing water burn out the bulb... . instead of trying to seal it out it was simpler for us to drain it out with a 1/16" diameter hole... usually one or two holes at the bottom of each lens... we run with the lights on... . so they stay dry from the heat if the water can run out...

Hope this helps...

Surprise!

I took it in to the local Santa Cruz dealer yesterday,(after removing my silicone caulk) and while I waited they R&R both tail light assemblys.

The only thing he asked about was, if I had replaced my orig. back-up light bulbs with brighter ones? He said the plastic was warped maybe due to too much heat.

I told him all was orig. and he said "OK, have a nice day".

Hey guys, thanks again for the info.
