Took the panel (with the vent) below the A-pillar driver's side off as I had some water leaking. Noticed water dripping, apparently from the outside cowling, down the inside of the fender but outside of the sheet metal that has the vent hole (follow me?).

Is this normal or should the water from the cowling/windshield wiper area be routed elsewhere?

Thanks... ... Gary

Gary,

On my truck water was coming in by the vent. As near as I could tell that is how it was designed - seems to be a poor design. I believe what happens is that the foam rubber seal dries out and allows water to drip into the cab. I took the vent out and permantely sealed it up.

that is exactly what I did too! It was a bear getting to the back screws to take that plastic panel off!! I don't need no stinkin air under there anyhow... . baron

It's been raining quite a bit here in Alabama, and when I pulled my floor mat, the carpet was soaked, but only on the drivers side. Looks like my vent may be leaking as well.

Thanks for the replies... . I believe you have solved it for me. Tho I figured that the drain from the cowling should be via a plastic tube or some such, not just dump the water down inside where it could rust!

Don't know if I will seal the vent shut..... gotta congitate on that.

By the way, I did have other leaks in the driver's area. Seems that all 3 places where the emergency brake support attached to sheet metal tore loose. Plus the windshield came unsealed over the steering wheel.

I have been fighting water leaks for a LONG time!
