I know this has been done to death, but I tried a couple of things and it didn't work.

Anyhow installed a TST plate and GSK on a buddies truck last Saturday. Well before I got there he went and pressure washed the motor at a car wash. Well his WIF light came on and won't go off. We tried unhooking the conector and he said he even drained and reprimed the filter and it still won't go off.

Truck is a 95 5spd... . help

If the light stays on with the connector unplugged something is wrong with the wiring to the pcm or the pcm itself. PCM wiring connector may have gotten wet in the pressure wash.

If the light only goes on with the connecter plugged in there is either water in the fuel or crud shorting the probes together.

Mark mine comes on almost everytime I wash the motor, I've gotten to the point of ignoring it now as it goes out within a few minutes.

Well it went out at one point and time over the weekend? Not sure when but he said he was pulling out of his driveway and it hadn't come on but he got a lil' ways down the road and the dang thing came on again.

I didn't say the light was staying on with the sensor disconnected Bill :p ;)

Just that he had unplugged the sensor a time or two, and drained the filter too I believe(?) and it's still on.

I got him a new fuel filter from Cummins Monday so maybe that will fix it.

I was just giving hints to find out which direction the problem was coming from. :)

Make sure he cleans the the WIF probes when changing the filter.

Guys,

When we had our 21" snow here a few weeks ago, a friend of mine needed to be transported about 1/2 mile off road (he was the one who drove the tractors to clear the road). I took him and ended up several times pushing with my bumper. The WIF light came on when I was coming back out, stayed on maybe 1/2 minute and went off. No water in fuel, I figure it's pretty sensitive.

Wire are prob shorting out somewhere they usually start pulling away at the sensor exposing the copper wire try using liquid electrical tape on them at the sensor... ... Rick

Removing connector and cleaning with compressed air or solvent always fixes the problem after a wash with mine... I don't have a wiring diagram , I assume the the water in fuel probe acts like a capacitor and the PCM can tell the difference between water and fuel values , therefore water in the connector is the same as water in the filter... ... ... ..... norm
