Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) water in fuel light

Today I changed my fuel filter and everything was find. Later I started my truck and the water in fuel light would not go off. I drained the filter some and there was no evidence of water in the fuel. The truck runs fine could it be the sending unit that screws in the filter? Has any one had to replace this part for this reason? I thought about unhooking it until next filter change. My truck is a 95 with 58000 miles I purchased it new the light has not come on since I had the truck.

Check to see if the connector is wet or shorted.

Joe G thanks for the info. The light was not on the next day. Evidently I got it wet washing the fuel off. I always spray it off after I change the filter. Its kind of hard to get it out without spilling some.
