Leave it to me to screw something up right before going on a major road-trip. In getting my 3/4 ton 1991 W250 ready to tow our 36-foot 5th wheel from Colorado to Wisconsin, I thought I'd be proactive and change the fluids and filters. After spinning off the fuel/water seperator, I noticed the wires were working their way out. Rather than try to clean them up with electrical tape, I ordered a new sensor from Geno's and installed it last night.
Here's the rub... Now, all of a sudden, my 'water in fuel' light won't go off, no matter HOW much I drain out of the brand new filter! Since changing it is about as difficult as changing a lightbulb, I can't figure how I could have dorked this one up...
Does anyone have any idea why the water in fuel light is on now? Seems like the sensor is too simple to receive a defective one, but is that even possible?
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!
