Archived Water in oil

On a 1996 CTD, with 180K miles, a friend has water in oil. When he takes radiator cap off he hears a pressure release from the radiator cap. His first indication was overheating, after usually running cool. He pulled the head and found that the head gasket appeared good. Cummins said WHAT?? are you talking about, as they had never had a problem with head gaskets. Cummins said maybe one of the sleeve gaskets (O rings) was leaking?

We are at a loss.

Don't think you have sleeves. Probably the transmission oil cooler on the side of the engine. bg

This symptom is usually the engine oil cooler in the block behind the oil filter.

Definetly no sleeves. Oil cooler is usually the culprit.
