Hi to all you loyal 1st generation owners. I finally made the " move " and purchased a 2001 4x4 ETH 6spd. (I'm not a traitor, just a true Cummings fan). I love my new truck for its "smoothness", but just couldn't sell my trusted and reliable 92 4x4 cummings. I gave it to my Dad to keep it in the family! The only problem with the 92 is that it has a "water leak" somewhere? The water sneaks in and soaks the floorboards, both on the driver's and passenger's sides. It usually happens during rainy season and after I wash the truck?
Do any of you have any suggestions? I thought about replacing the front window rubber. Is this a commom broblem with this "Classic Dodge" body style?

Thanks in advance

I had leaks like that. They were from the kick panel to sheet metal seal for the driver's side vent-used black RTV silcone to fix that. Another from a poor fit of the A/C air inlet to the passenger side sheet metal-more black RTV. And finally the most persistent was the poor windshield seal. I had mine removed and resealed by a glass shop (they used the same seal and the correct sealer) and that was the end of that.

I have the same problem and i think i found the culprit while striping the truck to paint
i had the factory side molding, well the piece behind the doors (small curved piece)
is bolted on 1/4" plastic pin in a 1/2" hole
no seal the water gets behind and right into the truck, i filled the hole and not reinstalling the molding we'll see what happens (if any body need any of the side pieces i'd be glad to give them up)

I've had the same problem. I thought it might be my visor, so I used RTV on that but still get my seat belt roller wet. Can the cargo light seal leak????

I had a few leaks in the cab also. What I found was that the 'rain rail' and the seam where the roof hooks to the back of the cab had weather and cracked allowing water to come in the truck in a heavy rain. A little clear silicone or similar stuff has fixed my problem of wet seat belts and water on the floor.

TO: LT, LIL'DOG,MARK93 AND RICK DUSCH,
THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS. I DECIDED TO HAVE THE 92 PAINTED AND I'LL PASS ON YOUR SUGGESTIONS TO THE PAINTSHOP. IT SEEMS THAT DODGE TRIED TO SAVE A LITTLE MONEY DURING THOSE YEARS ON CHEAP PAINT! THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF THE TRUCK AT SEVERAL LOCATIONS, OH WELL.
THANKS AGAIN,
MATT

Mine leaks on the floor boards/mat also. I finally saw where it came from while sitting in the truck during the rain. When mine is slanted forward, the rain rail overflows and seaps down through the front pillar plastic. It looks like the mats are getting wet from under the windshield, but it is from the door seal leak near the roof. Long winded answer but it might help.

The floor on my 4x4 69(slant-six)driver's side was rusted all the way through. Whenever I see anyone with this older model Dodge truck I warn them about the leaking cab problem. On my 90 I simply removed the metal strip that holds the floor mat down(along the bottom of the door on the driver's side) so I can easily(it rains a lot in Seattle) lift the mat to dry the floor with a towel. Appears to be pretty good paint on the metal floor so I don't see any rust yet. I can't determine where the water enters the cab but I think the source is near the kick panel air vent.

It’s a keeper.

Yea, Matt, I'd 2nd what Dale just said. I had an '85 Ramcharger with rusty floors. Found the kick panel air vent (driver's side) would let water trickle in. I removed it and put lots of silicone on to fix it. Couldn't determine where the passenger side leaked. P. S. Lose the 'g' on the end, it's Cummins! #ad
Ha, had to say that! Good luck chasing the leak.
