Tax credit for owning a diesel ??

Mmmmm, I just happen to have 40 gal of H2o back in the freshwater tank. It even has a demand pump.

I can see it now, "ONE OF YOU KIDS turn on the water back there cause we're comin to a big hill". :D

Heck, even if you're towing an RV, you probably have 40-50 gallons of water back there, and a pump! Just fill the fresh water tank, turn on the RV water pump, fit a tubing quick-connect between the RV and the truck, and you're in business. Heck, I can hear the conversation at a rest stop now, "Hey, don't you kids be a'goin in there and flushin' that toilet! We're gonna need that water to make it over Wolf Creek Pass!" ;) :D

Nozzles

I have been using ether injection nozzles from a International Harvester farm tractor. You could go to a Case IH dealer or a tractor wrecking yard. Most IH diesel tractors have one. If you have to go to the parts book try a 806-1256 series. Should be located in the air intake manifold or pipe. Gale Banks should have access to a good water injection nozzle that is threded. The ether nozzle will have to be drilled out to about . 040 to . 060 depending on psi of your pump. . Start smaller and test pump into a container for a pint =30 seconds.

water alky inj

Great sites!! I wish I would have had access to sites like that when I built my injection system. Mine is very similar. However I am using a 220psi commercial spray pump that I found in northern wholesale catalog. The NOS spray nozzles should work very well. I did not realize that they were available in . 025s. Good luck.

I found a Delevan nozzle that is threaded but its a 1. 00 hole. im going to thier site as soon as i enter on this reply to see what other sizes i can get.

the other thing i was going to try was a NOS nozzle. i just havent gotten to a speed shop to see whats available. ill be doing that today.

FYI its; www.delevan.com

Larry, youre killing me. but dont laugh too loud, im sure someone has or will try it. :D

Denatured alcohol injection.....

Go to this site: http://www.geocities.com/rad87gn/tech/SteveCkit.html

The kit is intended for Buick Grand Nationals and other assorted turboed gassers. My buddy has one on his GMC Typhoon and he's running 20psi with no intercooler and zero degrees of knock retard... .

I HIGLY recommend the kit... . it's well worth the $$ and Steve is a really straight up kind of guy and he could answer all of your questions.

Matt (I'm not sponsored by him, BTW... )

Back in the spring, I bought the stuff I needed to put a system together. I still have not put it together. I did, however, buy a NOS fogger nozzle to use. I talked to NOS and they said that they did not encourage the use of water through that nozzle, but it could be done. Go the the Holley website and look at all of the nozzles in the NOS section. They have many different styles. I chose the fogger because I intend to run nitrous eventually and it has the jet change-out capability.

I bought the NOS fogger nozzle, and an assortment of jets. i think tomorrow i will try to fit something up to the truck. first i plan to run some tests to see what each jet will flow into a measuring cup with my pump in a set amount of time.

it looks like if i use the fuel side and block off the gas (NOS) side, it should work. and later if i add propane or even NOS i can use the same nozzle for both. :D

gonzo, can you answer my question, can i run denatured alky into a diesel engine?

also im having trouble getting a hobbs type switch that is adjustable. anybody have a place i can check?

Tood, you can get them at Napa. Part Number 701-1575. Normaly open switch comes preset to close at 5 psi. They can be adjusted from about 2 psi to 30 psi. They cost about $25 a piece depending on your Napa store.

Good luck.

If you get a switch from NAPA, make sure it is adjustable. If it is adjustable, it should have a small rubber cap that will come off and expose an adjusting screw. The one I looked at NAPA was not adjustable. They may have different styles; I'm not sure. If you don't find one at NAPA, get back with NOS. I think the one I got from NOS was adjustable from 0 to 50 psi. I think it was a fuel pressure safety switch for fuel injected nitrous motors. They all work the same.

alky

I cannot tell you about denatured alcohol. But you can usually buy methinol alcohol at a propane dealer. The larger propane distributors use it as a dryer in the propane tanks. My local dealer has 2 or 3 55 gallon drums aroud all the time. You may want to start with a water alcohol mix and gradually step up the alcohol as you get the system dialed in. Sounds like you are well on your way. .

OK Now I Know

You guys have way too much free time on your hands. :) Everybody thinks I'm ate up with my truck and wanting to get more power man if they only could read this they would know I'm the normal one you guys are the one's that are Just Not Right. ;)

Drag racing a 7500lb truck and then wanting to add water injection. Whats next 2 1/2 ton axles and transmisions off 18wheelers and transfercases off Hemmits. :D If you're going as far as water injection you might as well go all the way and just run pure alcohol.

H2O shooter

I will try to get a couple of photos posted of the simple water-alky injection system on my puller. It is a very simple system compared to the systems on the pro and super stock pulling diesels. But it works very well for me.

Methanol injection pix

Here is those pix I promised Hope that they are understandable.

This one shows the injector into the charger intake.

Injection nozzles

Here is the injection nozzles on the intake crossover pipe (goes from the turbo to the intake manifold). Note the Hobbs switch in the foreground NAPA part # 701-1575. It is set to turn the pump on at 20# psi.

Excellent, this is the type of setup I'm looking for... . something I can tinker with in my spare time. The plug-and-go systems are really nice, but I like to fiddle with stuff too much..... ;)
