The other day we found a water leak in the cab, it has been raining for several days but no leaks were noticed. While driving (it was NOT raining at the time) for the first 20-30 minutes and going 40-60 mph NO leaks.

Then (still no rain, and still mostly level ground) going through town with some stop lights some speeds up to 50 mph the passenger side grab handle started a fairly steady stream of water coming out. It was only about a 1/4 cup but the boss lady was not happy she got dripped on.

Has this happened to anybody else?

We are heading to the dealer later this week. It looks like all the seals are there and in place.

Last night lots of rain and no leaks sitting in the driveway.

I have had water in my over head consol lights (2nd gen). Dealer says "... cannot duplicate cutomer's stated problem... " I have had the winshield replaced 2 times and no problems so far. The glass installer said that the leak was not from the glass seal as it was installed properly. Still waiting to see. Been too cold here to take it to the car wash to test.

Steve, do you have cab lights on the roof? It could be windshield or less obvious (seemingly impossible) openings such as door weaterstrip, 3rd brake light, mirror. Sounds like a tough one. Good luck with it.

I have heard of leaks , but it is on the drivers side. The head liner was removed to find a bad weld on the left rear of the cab. As it turns out , it was a common problem. I should mention thou, that these were 2003 gassers that i heard about. :{

Water leak-Pass grab handle

I work at a dealer in Georgia and I have only seen one other leak at the passenger grab handle (one is enough though huh?) One of the techs bought an 03 1500 5. 7 HEMI. He had a leak from the windshield. There are pieces of foam that are used to locate the windshield when it is sealed. Looking at this windshield you could tell the foam was out of place and crocked compared to the other pieces along the edge. The windshield was replaced and it hasn't been an issue since.

Leaky Cab

I had this leak - water dripped out from the sunvisor mounts - it was (and now is again) a badly sealed clearance lamp. Gotta get it done again now 'cause it's leaking again. Sigh. Of course, if this is the most trouble I have with this truck, I'm way ahead of the game!

I'm having the same thing happen mine. It's leaking down the drivers sun visor mount. I suspected the clearance lamps, but after taking them all off, those suckers look like they're sealed pretty well. I'm taking it in for a transmission leak any how. I'll let you know what/if I find out.

I think shortcut has the answer,

I washed the big white beast no leaks and it rained yesterday no leaks. While washing today there wash a piece of foam sticking up from behind the windshield, about 4 inches form the grab handle. This week I'll take it to the stealer and see if they can duplicate the leak or not and maybe fix the problem.

thanks for the ideas

steve

Took a closer look at mine today and the clearance lights are cracked! Very small crack on 3of the 5 lights facing forward off the mounting screw. Will call Mr. stealer Monday and if it gets to be too much of a hassle I'll just get some clear silicone myself till I can get it to stealer's place.

Water Leak tracer Trick (from Kenworth)

1) Warm up engine to operating Temp

2) Turn heater temp and fan on high (leave engine running)

close doors and windows

3) Spray the cab (top, sides etc. ) with a soapy water solution

4) Bubbles will appear at the leak source / sources

5) Repair as required

I just noticed a leak in my cab this weekend. The water came dripping in off of the passenger visor clip located near the center of the cab. It was perhaps a thimble full but a thimble full too much. No idea how much more water I'm not seeing. Floor didn't feel wet.

Any idea how much damage may have been caused?

Cabbo leako

I had noticed a noise on the passenger side since i bought my truck, and finally, about 10K, it did start to leak.

Dealer fixed it- door was out of alignment, and the weather seal was crimped. Obviously, this leak could cause a pour through at the grab handle, or anywhere along the passenger side, depending on where the kink is.
