I was vacuuming my truck out yesterday and found the carpet under the rear seat is wet on the passengers side. It appears the water is running down the rear wall of the cab and pooling in the storage area under the seat. My guess is the rear window is leaking but it could be the third brakelight. I'm dropping it off at the dealers tonight after work and hopefully they'll find and fix it quickly.

Rosco I might go a step farther on the dealership checking for water damage other places. This happened to a co-worker of mine on his 98 CTD. They (dealership) found the leak on his truck around the windshield area not sealing properly. He and his wife were detailing the interior one day and his wife noticed the passenger side front carpet being wet when vacuuming at the car wash after washing the truck. Come to find out it had been leaking for awhile under the carpet and started mildewing pretty bad. Long story short, his dealer ended up replacing a good bit of the interior also. Funny thing about water it can originate at one location and end up in locations you would never suspect.

Mine did the same thing. Turned out to be a seal on the rear door. I started a thread about it over a year ago, do a search.

I dropped my truck off at the dealers Tuesday. They called yesterday afternoon and stated the leak was coming from the rear window and a new window has been ordered. I have my truck back for now but will have to reschedule when the new window arrives.

I had the same problem on my '98 1500 and the smell was awful from the mildew.

I had a water leak in my 2003 after having the front glass changed. After an exhaustive search we found the problem. There is a plastic clip with a foam seal that alignes and holds the widshield in place while the glue is setting. It's located under the plastic cowel on the passenger side. The clip fits into a hole that goes into the fresh air intake for the cab. The foam seal is supposed to prevent water from getting in. The seal was disrupted when the old windshield was removed.

I had a GMC Yukon that leaked. The carpet smelled really bad. I insisted that they replace it. The dealer did it under warranty. Give it a try. Can't hurt
