I have a water problem under my carpet on the passenger side. Not sure where it is coming from. I pulled the carpet up on that side and it was wet from the corner of the foam pad that has rubber over it back to the seat. I RTV'ed all over the place. Does anyone else have this problem.

i thought the third brake light drain ended up down there some where... or the A/C drain? don't remember for sure though

Trust me on this one. It is the third brake light gasket. Go to the dealer and order a new gasket. Or you can use RTV like some users do. Been there..... done that. :)

I`m with chipstien on this one... I park downhill all the time, and I had a helluva problem with the passenger side floor bein -soaked- all the time. Removed the 3rd brake lite, cleaned around it, and sealed with clear silicone... dried the padding out, not a problem in over a month. . prolly want to check your AC condenser pan tho for stoppage in the drain. .

I had a problem on my truck where the box around the evaporator core wasn't draining correctly and water would come back into the truck around where the drain goes through the firewall. A piece of heater hose about 10" long, with a 90 bend took care of it.

I also vote for leaking 3rd brakelight gasket.

Part number for Napa hose to fit A/C drain on firewall is:

Napa 9808, cost about $10.

crabman:)

Could be one of two reasons metioned.

Water from the A/C drain is either blocked, or being pushed back into the cab, best fix is to attach a 5/8" 90º bend to the water drain and then attach a 6-10" hose to the 90º to make sure if drains to a lower location.

The other is the 3rd brake light. Just remove the light and replace the gasket, a little clear silicone probably wouldn't hurt as long as you're neat.

I had BOTH problems, fixed one and it got better, fixed both and it stopped completely.

I had a leak that was coming in from the seal around the rear slider, I found it by removing the back seat and the all the plastic interior peices on that side. When I let the hose lay on the roof and run over the back window, it was obvious where the water was coming in. I used a little clear silicone, and it hasn't leaked since.

Looks like the right area. Try to see if the drain is clogged/blocked and then install the Napa rubber down pipe. To find the outlet, use flashlight and look up from underneath truck on firewall. Drain only sticks out maybe 3/4".

ALehman,

When the 3rd brake light leaks it runs along the top of the rear window to the side the truck is leaning. The rear seat is on a raised area in the floor. The way that is made results in what amounts to a rain gutter around the raised area so the water ends up under the carpet in the front.

OK guys,

I have the same issue. I have replaced the brake light gasket but the water is still showing up after we get a hard rain. Do I need to use the silicone as well? Any suggestions?

thanks in advance,

Brandon

When I did mine I cleaned the surfaces with denatured alcohol. Then I was very carefull with the poor excuse for a gasket. So far (about six years) there have been no leaks.

Have you checked the AC drain? The window seal? The 3rd brake light is the most likely, but not the only place that can leak.

Well when it did it last it actually dropped dropplets of water on my childrens heads in the back seat. So I am pretty sure that the majority of the water is coming from the light.

You are right about the very cheaply made gasket but that didn't stop them from charging $16 for it!

When I installed it it did seem like the light bowed out in the middle a little. I wonder if the two little screws on each end are not enough to hold the gasket tight against the cab in the middle?

I might try some silicone.
