I just noticed water leaking from the passenger side of the engine compartment of my 2006 dually with 42000 miles. It drips quite steadily when the engine is running. It appears to originate at the black cylinder up near the fire wall, or maybe at a fitting on the hose running into it. It doesn’t appear to have antifreeze in it. Anyone know what this is or how to fix it?

No, it's been raining and cool and I have been running the heater at low temperature. Do you know the function of that black cyoinder on upper side of the fire wall. The leak seems to be related to that.

That black cylinder is the AC system accumulator. There is a drain spout just below it coming out of the firewall that drains perspiration from the AC evaporator. It's a good thing that it is dripping water, mine quit draining due to a spider web and all the moisture was contained in the lower part of the HVAC housing and would spill out on the pass. side floor.

Yep, Defrost runs the damn AC pump which makes a dribble from the evap unit. I never really noticed much of a MPG drop on a diesel running AC compared to a gasser's blatant robbing.
