Water leaking down A post

Thanks for responding,I have rubber mats and I checked them for holes. Also I have gotten the carpet dry and when it rains it becomes wet again. The water is mainly concentrated on the slope up below the clutch and brake pedal. There is a rubber mat from the factory that directly contacts the steel floor board, the water is located there between the floor and the rubber mat.

Well I figured out the problem, a metal screw had been in a hole bigger than itself. Not do to the factory, but body shop work. I appreciate everyones input.

Glad you got your leak stopped. They are so aggravating. My 'A' pillar leak is still stopped. Everything seems dry and tight now, and am pleased with the truck. It's been on two trips, 6+ hours each time in the rain, and no leaks. Take care...

I replaced my clearance lights today. They were the source of a leak, but it wasn't the gaskets. Three of the lenses were cracked, two pretty severely. I suppose the new/better gaskets would have stopped the water, but it wasn't the gasket's fault in my case.

Either way I'm happy now.

Took truck to dealer last week. They replaced clearance lights and door seals (both TSB's). It rained pretty good the day I got the truck back. No more water!

My 4. 5 has the same leak, has to rain hard, unknown cause, if you find out tell us. might be a windshield leak?

DEALER REPALCED BOTH DOOR RUBBERS ,AND I PUT SILICONE UNDER ALL THE CAB LIGHTS , WORKS GREAT AND DOESN'T LEAK. I TRIED THE NEW GASKETS FOR THE CAB LIGHTS BUT THEY DIDN T WORK BUT THE SILICONE WORKS GREAT - NO MORE LEAKS ...

I noticed a leak in my 06 Megacab last week when it finally rained here in Mississippi. The water was dripping out of the top bolt cover on the A Pillar and was dripping off of the grab handle onto the floor leaving a large puddle of water. My problem is that I don't have the clearance lights on my truck so it must be the windshield. The truck is only 13 months old and I have not had any problem in the past but we have not had much rain in the past year. We are 15 inches under normal in rain this year. Has anyone had an 06 leak from the windshield?

I don't think you'll find it is in the windshield. There is a technical service bulletin TSB 23-003-04 that you can print and take back to your dealer so they can check it out... Here's the link: http://dodgeram. info/tsb/2004/23-003-04.htm



I think you'll find that this is the problem after talking to a few folks in my area about this...

Addition: Forgot to say that last weekend we rode in the rain to Millersburg, OH and ran around Friday & Saturday, and drove back home Sat. night, no leaks. (Thank goodness)

Bad news! The wife and I were out last Thursday night in the rain. My dreaded leak came back! Both A pillar handles were leaking from both the upper and lower bolt holes! Wet all over the vent, headlight switch, my left knee, her right leg, etc. ! My pyrometer mounted in the A pillar was even foggin' up from the moisture! I hadn't been out in the truck much in the rain since the last trip with it in early May, simply because we have been so dry (no rain) here in the Roanoke Valley of VA. It has been hot and dry like late August or early September, brown grass, tree leaves turning yellow, etc. Well, I called the dealer back and have an appointment for Monday the 30th to get them to check it again. We'll see what they do!

Dealer called and said they found the leak

Just got a call from the dealer, says their Water Doctor folks found the leak coming from the tubes from the sunroof. They fixed the front and rear drain tubes. I haven't gotten it back yet, and they don't call for more thunderstorms for several days now. I hope it will be done now after the door seals, silicone body sealant, and now the sunroof drains. I've had enough moisture in the cab that the hardware under the rear seat that wasn't painted is rusty! I'll have to remove it, clean it, paint it, and put it back.

If you look at the bottom picture of the new light, I have nestled the light into the gasket on the front near the corner so that the gasket comes up and over the corner, sealing the light into the gasket rather than sitting on top of it. You can see the black lip of the gasket up over the light in one small spot. I had to spread that lip of the gasket and push the light down into the gasket all aroung the light so that it would seal around the light. It's kinda hard to do because it wants to come out of the side you're not working on, so you have to try to hold it in while getting the lip over the edge of the light all the way around it at the same time.



So far, I've had no more leaks.

So for $6. 10, you got the light assemblies, gaskets, and screws?

Yes, back in '07, that's what my local dealer wanted for them. I haven't looked into them recently.



But, this past Sunday afternoon, a group of us were going to go to the rifle range after the thunderstorms that rolled through, and when I opened the door to the truck, I found water on the center back seat. Looking up to see where it was coming from, I could see a few drips on the outside of the dome light directly over that seat, and water inside the lens. (Oh, Great!!!) I began loading the gear into the truck, some of it to go behind the rear seat, and there I found water on the passenger side at the top of the rear window and down the pillar behind the right rear seat. (Even Better!!!) We had had about 1. 5" of rain in about 45 minutes just prior to finding the water inside the truck. It was parked in my driveway with the front just slightly elevated and the passenger side just a bit lower than the left side. I guess I'll have to make another appointment with the service department again and see if the "Water Doctor" folks can find this one... I've been leak free for about a year, but "... it's back... "... .
