I'm having issues with my engine temp. AFTER installing a NEW water pump (the old one leaking) and installing a NEW thermostat, my lower hose is hot while the upper hose is cold.

Water is flowing freely through the block, and the radiator was pulled and flow tested at a radiator shop and the radiator checks good. We also exchanged the water pump and thermostat, and the upper hose is still cold while the lower is hot. The OEM dash gauge reads 260 while my aux gauge shows less than 150.

Help!!! I am on the road and am trying to get going again.

I will check for trapped air, thanks for that clue.

I am not certain about the dash gauges, and thus the extra water temp and oil pressure gauges.

Theromostat sealing gasket

Be sure that the thermostat gasket which is actually a donut type seal is properly installed. Without it the thermostat just recycles the water through the block. The thermostat allows water flow through the block prior to the thermostat opening. If the gasket seal is not installed properly the thermostat does not seal this path when its open and the engine will overheat.

Thank you everyone for your assistance. Sometimes we forget the simplest of things that can cause the problem.

Bob4X4, you were correct---Just burrp it.

Thanks, I am again tearing up the highway.
