I was going to post in the "911" forum... but if I have to miss a days work, oh well.

I have been noticing a sweet smell (coolant), but never saw much in the way of loss or wetness. Well, today I see traces of wet and upon pushing/pulling on the water pump shaft I find it is SLOPPY.

Who stocks water pumps? Does a new pump include the pulley? I really don't want to give DC too much more $$, and Cummins does not tend to stock much for the 5. 9.

TIA

Mike

I replaced mine when I installed the cylinder head. Cummins actually had mine in stock. The pulley is already on it and ready to go. The core charge is high if a remember correctly. I think the square cut o-ring is in the pump box, if not dont forget to grab one.

I guess while I'm at work Mom can get the parts... but then I could take the day off... hummm:rolleyes:

Thanks Don... ... why did you have to replace the head???

Mike

You should be able to get them at most major auto parts houses or if not if you have a Case IH dealer nearby, they will have it, same engine is in some of their smaller tractors. :)

I installed one of Joe Donnellys ported heads and could not be happier. Works good and lower EGT's too. I wanted to start with a good base to build on for more power and have the ability to add more fuel later.

Napa has these units usually in stock for about 65 clams with the "o" ring. My stocker came out with the square cut ring, but the new round o ring worked fine. They didn't charge me a core charge. HTH. Dan
