Have started the KDP repair. Noted that the water pump is totally exposed. My question - what has been the average life of the pump? I have 125K on the truck now. If they normally go out 150-175K, then I'm going to go ahead & replace it & the 'stat now while tore down. The "weep" hole is clean & clear, but I can feel just a VERY-VERY SLIGHT side movement of the pump shaft. Can't decide if that's normal or if it is in the early stage of going out.

I haven't heard of many going out at all. Got 150,000+ on mine and still running and cooling strong. Not sure what others have experienced or seen, but I am sure someone will chime in with some good advice. :)

Mine went at 175,000. Its a simple job even with the truck together I would wait. Maybee by the time it goes it will be anti freeze change time again?

What were you sypmtoms of the pump going out? Water temp too hot??

I changed mine when I did the KDP at105K miles. It was fine but I changed it anyway. Now keep the old one for a spare. Like Joe G. said, piece of cake even if the truck's all together.

Thanks for all reply's. . Think I'll leave as is & see how far it goes. As I said , nothing out the weel hole etc. The coolant chage is due & already have it to change out while doing this. Down to the balancer - to take off tonight, if I can figure how to keep the crank from turning.
