I will not use Napa reman parts anymore period, unless I have lots of time... ... ..... enough to do it twice in short order.

I too have found that dealer parts though expensive, last at least as long as the predecessor did.

X2. Your lucky to get a year out of a "rebuilt" alt or waterpump from NAPA.
I would happily spend the extra $100 for a new Cummins part.

the gates pump was a new pump not a rebuild as is the CarQuest one that I just installed. I st don't get it the pump on my 89 lasted over 200,000 miles with out an issue why can't the newer ones last????

If it matters to anyone, our original water pump on our 5. 9 2006 CTD Mega lasted. . wait for it... . 53,000 miles. And the Dodge dealer said "it happens". The pump on our old reliable 1998, was replaced as a precaution at 151,000 miles. Global economy. Yep.

Replaced the stock water pump at 205,000 miles with a Gates. 210,000 miles and I'm leaking coolant on start up less than 6 months later. I'll deal with the small leak until spring at which point I'm going back to Cummins. 2006 Ram 3500.

Man.... That's beyond the PITTS! I might suggest that you go back to where you bought it and get your $$$ back. Even if you don't change it out now, you might be able to document it and tell them the circumstances as why you can't change it out now. By the way... WELCOME to the TDR.

The whole time I was doing the job I kept thinking how funny it was to be putting USA made parts back on Japanese car.

My first three Honda were Japanese 78 Civic, 77 Accord, 84 Prelude.

The 87 Accord was born in America along with the 2001 Accord.

Then a few years ago I bought a used 91 Prelude with slant eyes and played with it for a couple three years.

Only one that saw a Honda service bay was the used Prelude when Honda installed new front seat belts at no charge because the retractors were no longer working well. Car was around 20 years old at the time.

When we signing the papers on the 2001 Accord, the guy in the back room wanted to sell us a warranty. I had to say "wait a minute, what does the sign on the front of the building say?" He said Lynnwood Honda! And I said HONDA. He said OK, I understand, here are your keys.
