Time to do a water pump. Looks like a straight forward kind of deal. (That's when I start getting worried ) Any suggestions; part #'s or brand replacements?
Never replaced one on mine yet but, past experience tells me that aftermarket (other than Cummins) are not that less expensive and are usually rebuilt/far less quality. For my money and keeping the besat cool I'll go the extra $$ for the factory new pump.
I put a factory one on a year or so ago, and posted about it. I think it cost me about $100. Lots of guys posted at that time, saying NAPA sold a good one cheaper. I've used a lot of NAPA stuff, and their quality has always been excellent.
Well, as you all said, changing the pump was easy. The fun part was getting the radiator level down. It seems the drain valve was clogged from the inside. Tried air, small wire etc. Finally started a siphon hose and got the job done.
Picked up a new replacement pump at Advance Auto Parts. $84. 00, and it was IDENTICAL to the one I replaced. My typical project, an hour to get the water out, 15 mins. to change the pump.
