Does it matter if impeller is open or enclosed? On the factory one the blades are open. I picked up a replacement and the impeller looks as if the blades are pushed down a little with a metal plate covering them. The after market one says it is made in the USA, it says the box it came in is made in Mexico (my whole truck was made in Mexico).
I know use cumming parts, but here is is friday night/saturday morning dodge wants 300. 00 (a month ago when I had starter issue they wanted 680. 00 for a starter, I bought the kit from Geno's for 23. 00 and fixed it). Geno's pump was cheaper (39. 00), but closed, plus the time getting it shipped here, so I went with the USA/Mex one (49. 00).
The old one looked like it was (Just startiing) seeping and what was comming up was getting blow back on to the upper front of the engine, nothing on the floor. At first it kind of looked like it was leaking down from the T-stat, because I could not find anything leaking out the weep hole. After I pulled the pump and looking futher it seems like it was comming from the end of shaft (inside the pulley) then getting blown up towards the T-stat and upper front of the engine. It looked like dried chocolate milk.
I just need to know about those covered impeller blades, is this something new? Paul It is an 01, 189,000
