Well, my water pump finally took a crap today. Wife took the truck to go to work and called me a few mins after leaving to say the GEN light was on. First thought was the engine threw the belt, joy... so I drive down to check out what the deal is and the belt is still on the engine, but I notice things are wet. What the... I look under the truck and coolant is flowing down the front of the block. I have her take the car and I drive the truck back home to do some investigating. Finally track the source of the leak to the water pump, coolant is pooling on the block underneath it and then flowing down the front. The pulley has about . 5" of play in it, guess it's time to replace the pump.

So, the question is, what's the Napa part #? Or is this something they should be able to look up in the computer? Thanks... ugh.

I don't recall the part #. It's an easy fix however. Since the water pump was weeping I also replaced all hoses and thermostat.

edit: I nearly forgot about the o-ring. The drain cock has an o-ring. When you go to reinstall the drain cock there's a good chance the o-ring is already bad or it'll get pinched. Napa carries a generic replacement in their Help section. About $4.

Got it fixed, wasn't bad at all. Figures that it would fail a couple thousand miles after I replace the t-stat. heh

For future reference:

New Napa water pump w/ o-ring and limited lifetime warranty

Item#: NWP557145

Price: $ 57. 99

The drain cock is still ok, no leaks but I'll remember that for future reference.

Total replacement time: 20-30 mins.

Check the pump when doing the KDP jig fix

Just a reminder to those doing the KDP jig fix... when you have everything apart on the front of your engine to kill the KDP, be sure to check your water pump bearings. This is the easiest time to change the pump. Only a two-bolt job. Mine was bad! And it's a good time to make sure you put on a fresh belt.
