Well Just finished 4,600 miles in 7 days. Last two days there was a nagging sound coming from the engine area... Seemed to get a little louder until today. Noticed some antifreeze on the ground and figured water pump. Got my tail home - turned into the yard and lost steering. . Belt had jumped off and when I got stopped the anti freeze was streaming out.

Can anyone point me to a good description on how to change this out? Assuming it is the pump that is!!!#@$%!

:confused: If the belts already off, two 10mm headed bolts, out it comes, a little scotch-brite or steel wool to knock the rust off, and bolt the new one on... . not hard at all. Look at the bottom of the pump and there is what's called a "weep hole. " It's around 1/4-3/8". If that's where the water is coming from, and I'd say it is if it threw the belt, then that's your culprit. Hell of a lot easier than a gas engine... .

Thanks Guys... Searched and found several descriptions. I have really big hands... so it was a pain literally to work in there. Pulled the air cleaner, popped the bolts, and sure enough the bearings were gone on the pump. Would have ordered one from Geno's but I needed it running so I got dinged for one locally. Went back together easily but getting the belt on was a challenge... Just glad it went in my front yard not 500 miles from home and at night! Cheers!

I carry a spare pump in the camper. Friend lost his in the middle of nowhere late Saturday on a holiday weekend. Had to wait until Tuesday for dealer to open.

Not a bad idea. I just finished driving from Montreal to Regina via the northern route. Had it pooched out there it would not have been enjoyable... That said putting that belt on is a challenge!!!!

Got dinged?? How much did you pay. My local auto parts store only charges $40 for a cummins water pump. These are the cheapest and easiest pump to change that I have ever seen. :)

:-laf Gotta love the Chineese they will produce copies of everything... ... ...

on a non pc note that is why it is getting harder to find US made products and Jobs

Ya, I heard a new ditty the other day about how the Chinese are demanding higher wadges. Soon they will be sending their stuff to America to be built. :eek::eek::eek:

Yeah,average wage in China is $6. 50 now. Some US companies are returning as the cost of doing biz is more over there when you add up shipping,taxes,etc. They can't return soon enough as far as I'm concerned.

The next source of hard working labor will be Vietnam. We've been normalizing our relationship lately. :{

Me either,,, I have my own way of protesting,, when I call a company and they have people answering the phone from half way around the planet, I refuse to talk to them. They are taking jobs from america too.
Sorry, looks like this thread got highjacked!
