I wonder if the FCA fix will consist of just drilling a vent hole in your water pump instead of replacing it.....:-laf....I'm joking.....I think.

And then when the drill shavings get in the bearing........ Quicker water pump failure.

No...Cummins2014....I think there are a lot of us who are highly suspicious of RAM's "fixes" and would like to be at least informed as to what to look for. I'd rather be informed as to a potential problem rather than just wait until RAM decides to notify me of a potential issue. Case in point...they still have not remedied the "WYE hose defect" that many of us have had on our 2014's cooling system. Mine failed and yes they did replace it under warranty except they put the very same part on there again with a very high known failure rate. Do I wait for it to fail again? No...I bought a billet WYE and took that problem off my plate. I want my truck to live as long as possible as we all know these are not cheap.
I do appreciate everyone's proactive nature...I am the same way. I sleep better actually. My .02

I am glad the identification post proved useful. Go forth, better informed.

Thank-you all.ProLean I have spoken with several service dept managers,Cummins tech's at the dealerships i have visited. All took the time to explained what they throught might be the problem.None worried that in the next 24 hours billions of failed water pump trucks will be showing up at there at there service drives..So I say you could do one of two things, one make and appointment and allow the cummins tech to look at the pump by disengaging the belt and then he can inspect the pulley shaft for deflection and rotation. Now also mine you what I stated is what some tech's think the bullentin might look like. Now Geno's Garage and TDRADMIN think it might be based on weep hole verus vent hole inspection. But as the service manager told me the current change out rate is low,and also they were not allowed to open the pump assembly up and then determine what caused the failure rate only Concentric and Cummins and Ram engineering know that answer. But yes some had the shaft axle colaspe and throw the belt off..But again a very low rate maybe 5 in one year, some dealers none at all, and some had 3 in one year...All were Concentric made water pumps. Now I am not saying they will not bill you for 1 hour of work,or they may just warranty it as a owner complaint. But if you are heading down the road and want some piece of mind this could be the way.The other is to simply like some here have stated here "Stay Calm and Cummins On".Also I would like to take a moment for our Nevada TDR membership you are in my prayers and I know for a fact that the great state of Nevada "The Battle Born State" the state that I have visited many times, and love so much and been to a few of the TDR Events there as well. You will with the strength of God get through this horrific tragic event, and come out stronger than ever.God Bless you TDR Guys and Gals.
If you are worried about the water pump failing replace it and keep the receipt. Under most recalls if you paid for the repair you will be reimbursed for the repair. You might have to wait a while for the reimbursement but with proper documentation (repair order, paid receipt) it isn't usually a problem. I would suggest that if you replace it yourself you purchase the new one from a dealer or Genos since they carry Genuine Cummins parts.
A couple of you have spent more time (time is money) speculating about this or that and could have better spent the time just replacing the pump and not worring about what might happen in the future.
