Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Water Pump?

I did a search and only saw a few posts on the 1st gen. How long do they last on the 2nd Gens? While the truck is down I wanted to replace anything that might be about to go. Not trying to find problems just doing some preventive maintenance while it is so easy to change with the front end off. Thanks.

I have 158K on this one and no problems.

I am at 173,000+ turns now on my waterpump with no problems

I have 182,000 and some change on the OEM pump. I think that servicing the coolant system improves their lifespan.

Mine started weeping at @180K. Finally went at @230K. Easy install. Hardest part was draining the coolant.

They're pretty cheap under $250. 00 I think I changed mine during the kdp ordeal.

Mine stated weeping at 32K or so, when the truck was 4 years old. There was no recon available for the 2001. 5 at the time. Need to drive it more!!!!! Which I am going to do, now that I have retired. SNOKING

Olee is checking on one locally for a price. The truck has less the 130K and it was made in Sept 99. I might just look around and find the best deal on one and have it for a back-up. I know I can handle two bolts and removing the belt on the side of the road if I need too. Thanks everyone.
