New member first post. Just shy of 25k water pump bit the dust (yesterday Merry Christmas). Happy that it was in my driveway and still under warranty.
The DEF pump has been changed out "twice" also. Its has been an awesome truck other than the pumps. Love the truck despite the pump issues.

Is the water pump and DEF pump a common problem?

The water pump has been an on going issue since the 3rd gen trucks . You get a good one it'll last. Most fail within the first 100k miles. The aftermarket ones don't seem to las tmuch longer than the stock ones. The pumps on my 1989 had No issues lasting well over 200k. I had over 500K miles on that truck when I sold it (what was I thinking at thet time?????) and it was only on the 2nd water pump.
As for the DEF pump I think you are one of the few that has had to have the pump changed from what I've read on here. The dealer had thought that my pump had failed only to find the heater in the DEF tank was not staying on. The DEF would freeze and the pump would blow the fuse.

I firmly believe the water pumps are a victim of modern engineering/ outsourced materials/ beancounting. Lots of modern engines experience issues like this. Hemi Water pumps go soon too.
My Cummins OE pump lasted 11 years, 120k. My '14 Hemi lasted 1 year. And now it needs a radiator- Another delicate item in modern vehicles.

Got truck back late yesterday afternoon, now its back at the dealer for a check engine light. This is my first Chrysler vehicle. Seems to be in the shop a lot.
