Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) water seperater & fuel filter

doing a fuel system for my 96 ctd. made a billet bolt in sump for the fuel tank,also have a aeromotive a-1000 pump,aeromotive regulator. was wondering if the aeromotive filter would be ok, it filters to 10-microns. also how important is a water seperator ?

I wouldn't use the little aeromotive filter. Get a remote filter mount and use a real 500hp+ 10" fuel/water separator. Here is a recent thread on a remote filter mount for the frame rail. NAPA has a mount part number FIL4770 as well. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161781
