24 oz framing hammer and a call to your insurance company! Not really. I have well water and I always make sure that every wash job, i completely wash and dry every window with windex. Now, on the other hand, I made the mistake of getting clear shower doors in my log home. BIG mistake. Now, 3 years later, the master bath looks great as my wife always dries it off. The down stairs bath that the kid uses is almost totally fogged. I have tried rubbing compound, 0000 steel wool and countless other products to get it clean. No such luck. I think I will just call the local glass co that installed them and order a new door. Sooo much easier. :(

You can try this on a small spot, but I have had great luck with it - Mr Clean makes something called a "Magic Eraser". I use them on all the glass on my vehicles with great success. DON'T use it on painted surfaces, though. It works great on shower doors, too.

As for water spots on the paint, I have found that the only thing that works well for me is a clay bar after washing and drying. I need to immediately wax after the clay bar, so you can guess this doesn't get done much.

Anyway, try the Magic Eraser on your glass and hopefully it'll work for you, too.

Vinegar is the answer

I have this problem pretty bad with sprinklers, wind, and the hard water here. I even traded in my last truck (it was just a Ford though) on my Cummins because it had such bad water spots on it. A guy at the boat dealership let me in on a secret. Mix up a spray bottle or bucket with about 25% vinegar and 75% water and hard water spots come off like magic. This is the only thing that works. Not even rubbing compound will do it.

Ref those water spots, I have used muratic pool acid on a rag and very carefully wiped the window. The well water stains came right off of the window with no problem. Just be very careful and wear rubber gloves. Use a small amount so you can keep it from dripping on your paint. I have a buddy who cleans pools for a living and he deals with the stuff all the time so it's not that bad to handle.

Home Depot sells a product called Spot X, it comes in a small yellow bottle. Its a powder that you add water to and rub on the spots. It takes some elbow grease but works extremely well on windows (NOT PAINT!). My truck has spots on since it was brought home. I havent removed those yet but I did use it on all of the house windows.

Install a water softner in your house. I ran a line to my garage just so I could wash my vehicle with soft water. Don't have to get in a hurry when drying. You'll need to use less soap though. Best home improvement you can do for your vehicles. :)

Thanks for all the replys,I shall try all of them to see which is best for my problem. Thankyou again everone, TDR IS THE GREATEST

My Excursion had a real bad case of water spots... left next to a sprinkler in an Orlando parking lot. A local pro detailer used an acid solution on the entire truck, a small area at a time. He wouldnt reveal the mix ratio or type... cant really blame him. I believe it was 400$ to do this along with a complete detail, inside & out. Great results.

Only thing he didnt do was the windshield and rear hatch window. Cant remember the exact reason, but he claimed a higher risk of damage as opposed to the other glass. (Defroster grid?) My memory is shot & I apologize. Now its only spotted where the wipers dont reach.

Hope this helps- good luck

HAd good luck with Rain-X or its stronger version Invisible Shield to prevent the water spots, I think it also removed them but don't remember 100% since I haven't had the problem since I put it on (don't remember doing anything else at least).

I think this was a topic of discussion one other time and if memory serves me correctly Bon Ami or Brillo pads was suggested for the glass. Anyone else remember that? Larv
