I have been offered to modify my truck to run on a water emulsification system. The benifits are clean running, increased mileage per gallon. Can anyone give me their experience with this. I have looked on the internet and there are numerous products, but they all say good things. It sounds like the water mixes with the fuel and thats how it works. Any input will be appreciated.

Water is already in all diesel and it is especially hard on 3rd Gen injectors. Sounds like a terrible idea to me!

Emulsified or not, the water's still there. Water is less compressible than diesel fuel, so I would expect it to have more of an erosive effect due to the high pressures on injectors & seats than what many are already seeing.

water

thanks guys, anymore input, why such a great product according to them when maybe the people like us still know that water is a diesel's enemy.

I have some beach front property in Texas for sale just came available -- are you interested??? Freshly produced by IKE.

Read in the TDR mag about these after market gizmos.

Water emulsification has been around for a while. Caterpillar at one time bought the rights to such a system and tested it quite thoroughly. It made a big splash in the trade magazines at the time and then ..... sort of disappeared from the scene. I don't know if the system you are talking about is the identical system Cat tried to make work, but as I recall it did require some engine modification and the emulsified product was a lot more than just pump in a few gallons of diesel and top it off with a few gallons of water along with the emulsifier and drive away. It was pre-mixed and the solution was not to be allowed to sit for extended periods (over 30 days I think) or it would separate and really make havoc of your fuel system. The filters were obviously different as well. Keep us posted on what you decide to do. It should be interesting.

If it were me, I'd ask for the company wanting to use your truck as a test mule to guarantee it. It breaks, they fix it for you.

Thats what I see is that it has been around for a while and I really believe that it's more than a 30 minute application and off you go, I will keep you posted. The gentleman did tell me that he is in the process of mixing it now. Also he has a Ford diesel and wouldn't that be neat when I say show me yours and he cant produce, I am almost positive he is not his own guinee pig. Thanks members.

Water is NOT COMPRESSABLE!! ever hear of a water jet? think of what it it doing to your injector nozzles, cylinders, pistons, bottom end for that matter at that pressure!!

Water+212*F = steam@1600X original volume

If water was injected into the intake manifold there ?could be? a benefit:confused:? In the fuel, I dont see the advantage. The problem is not the lack of compressability, Diesel fuel is a fluid also. It is the fact that the operating temperature of the cylinder causes the water to flash into steam at 1600 times its original volume. If this happens inside an injector at operating temperatures? You lost your nozzle! Steam is HIGHLY erosive! Thats why Power Plants have to shut down periodically to replace boiler tubes. I dont know how the water to steam transformation could be harnessed? However, through the fuel system does not sound viable to me. GregH
