Michelin load e tire pressure question

Finally settled on a 5er!

I have a 30' 5er and trying to keep her in good shape. So I decided on a go coat of wax, what a job. Does any one here do it? what kind of wax do you use or am I insane to even bother. It's hard to see when waxing it due to the camper being the same color of the wax, so I loose track were I waxed it and then when it's done, man you see the spots I missed and looks terrible. Any ideas would be great. I'm using rain dance wax.

By the way I saw a pretty good trick to keep the sides streak free from the gutters. Put a clothes pin at the end of each gutter and now the water runs off at the end of the clothes pin and away from the wall! works good and they don't fall off either.

Gel Gloss

I use Gel-Gloss from Camper World. I'm sure others have it. It goes on and off pretty easy and seems to to a good job.

They claim made especially for the Fiberglass or whatever it's called trailer outside and inside.

I also use "Protectall" a lot. Not sure if one better in any way.

Strange thing you would ask about that, since I just waxed mine. Was a 2 day job.

You ask what wax did I use. 3M fiberglass wax for marine use is what I bought. It did a very good job and I put it on with a 7" buffer and used a towel to remove. It took all the oxidation lines off and put a very good shine on. I had a little diesel soot on the trailer that came right off.

Try the 3M.

I have used about everthing made but the new Gel-Gloss is by far the best. Goes on and off so easy I wax mine every couple months, usually while camping when I get bored or need to work of some beer.

I've waxed the front of my trailer, in hopes that the bugs wouldn't stick. It didn't seem to help though. I've been thinking that it might help with the black streaks though, has anyone noticed?

roof and awning

Any body using anything on the roof and awning, not for cleaning but as a sealer, or to make it easier to maintain.

I use a cleaner and Protect All on roof and awning . It,s

a big job, but i like to do it at least once a year.

The top edge of the awning were it slides in the rail

really takes a beating from water and sun. Another thing

you should protect is the AC cover, they get hard and brittle

and end up on the side of the road.

My 2 cents

I as well use Gel-Gloss from Camper World, I spent 9 hours cleaning and waxing my 34' 5er yesterday what a nut. This was the first time I used the Gel-Gloss and it seemed to work pretty well.

I found a mobile trailer detailer the other day at the dealer and she told me it was 150. 00 to wax my 30ft Terry. I have waxed the front of it for bug protection. I don't know if it helped but I'm sure it didn't hurt either.

Bug-R-Off

Driving out to the West Coast we picked up a $hitload of bugs on the front of the 5er. Took ages to clean, the longer you leave it on the longer it takes to get off.

Picked up some stuff called Bug-R-Off. After you clean the front you spray this stuff on - leaves an oily film and supposed to make it easier to clean the bugs off.

Haven't had an opportunity to really try it yet but it looks promising.

I've tried several waxes and none seem to help keep the bugs off, but the bugs melt away with SPLATT by BarsLeaks. It's hard to find, but works great.

I want to thank every one for their imput. Being that it was Sunday, I couldn't find the gell-gloss anywhere, the local rv dealer was closed. I wanted to wax the trailer this weekend, so I tried the Meguiar's wax, that was not as bad as rain dance. I liked the rain dance because it kind rubs in a little deeper and gets some of the dirt, mosquito thing, whatever you call it, off when just washing doesn't do the complete job. It's a little harder to work with. I will pick up the Gell-gloss if local Rv store has it and try it next time. Thanks to all,

Fred.

Gell-Gloss

Just pick up the Gell-Gloss, this stuff is great. Easy on Easy off.

Thanks to all that recommended. The only down side to it, JohnB is how do you get to work off some beer, since it's so easy to use

Well our utility trailer is Alum sided so I don't know if this will help or not. I spray WD40 on the front nothing sticks and rain doesn't seem to wash it off. Trailer gets washed about once a year sometimes it goes twice a year. Last time it was washed they forgot to put any on and I remember how bad bugs can become.

bug no stick trick

Here's my hillbilly solution. .

Get one of those extended brushes and brush the front of the 5'er with dish soap (undiluted). . keep brushing it around. Eventually it will dry to a sticky mess, but when you turn the hose on it, everything just slides off. (i use the dish soap that is clear, don't know if the colored soaps would leave a stain or not).

A couple of years ago I drove my camper up to Alaska and back. Bug's were terrible! My eng temperature would rise and I would have to stop and clean all the bugs out of the radiator, coolers etc. The front of the cabover camper was black.

I let it go until I got back home two months later. I got out a spray bottle of Simple Green and soaked the front with it. Bugs came right off. Of course my wax came with it so I had to rewax the hood of the truck and front of the camper. :D :D

Anybody try Armorall on the front of their trailer, for bug control? I've got a big bottle of the stuff and I'm wondering if I should use it for that.

Beleave it or not, I can knock out the job of waxing my 30' Terry in around 5 hours! (not including washing)

I used mothers gold (only because I had it, its to expensive to use next time) I have had better luck with NuCar finish, it seems to come off nicer.

The trick is to have a DA buffer. I got one from Harbor Fraight for around $25. 00.

Now the trick to the DA is to put the wax on light or it will not come off with the DA. Oh ya, you will need a good ladder also.

Last week I washed the RV again, it had some black streaks on it so I grabed the "walmart black streak remover" The bottle said "will not remove wax or pollish". I was thinking "as good as this stuff removes black streaks, how can it not remove the wax?" Well the wax came off, so keep that in mind when using black streak remover.
