something to pray for

Merry Christmas folks!

Well I'm in Houston, and will be headed into San Antonio in a few days. I was planning on making a quick trip into Mexico (I've never been, and promised I'd do it this time). I just don't have any information, and can really only find information about being a non-US citizen trying to get into the US. If any body has made the trip recently, can you please either advise what I'll need, or a site that I can reference this information?

Thanks & hope you all have a good new year!

Corey

I have not been over since 9/11. Before that you did not need anything at all. It is an open border. Some things. . like more than one bottle of liquor per person require paying an excise tax. The first one requires one as well, but not very much. If you go across in Laredo, just walk in about 1/4 of a mile and there is a pretty decent mall to shop at. I usually take my driver's license and cash and put it in my front pocket. It is a good time... not much reason to worry about anything. Don't drive!!... . your insurance does not work in Mexico... I'm only walking in, staying for a short time (for the day, about 8hrs or so) and going (as far as I know) someplace as close to San Ant'o that I can get to. Just Saturday I was up in Amarillo, then back to Wichita Falls, Monday to Houston, and in a day or two, out towards Mexico, and back to Wichita Falls. Lots of driving, but I don't plan on coming back to Texas for some time.

Thanks guys,

Corey

Well thanks guys. I'm going to talk to a visitor center someplace. I've heard that you need either a birth certificate, pass port and or voter's card. It just seems that everybody I've talked with has a different story.

Thanks again,

Corey

I hunted about an hours drive from the border(Laredo) for three years. I took my Mom, wife and son over for a day trip. We parked on this side and walked across the bridge. We left pocket knives and valuables in the truck under the seat and had a good time. We stayed together and had no problems at all. It seemed like everybody wanted to sell us something. Go and have fun. I didn't drink any water either. Mom and my little boy even bought something to eat with no problems at all. Have fun.

The driver's license, birth cert or voters card is ONLY needed when you fly into one of their airports. OUR guys want to see it on your return trip. You don't need it to walk across. Just take your license for a little added security when you walk across... CJ
