No matter how positive or from the heart Bush's intentions are, it'll be construed as political by those who in their eyes he can do no right. I don't know if you think it's overblown or the wrong move, Champane, but don't you think if Bush made an attempt to see more troops than he did he'd be criticized from endangering himself? (which I'm sure is going to happen anyway). What would have been the right thing to do? I don't think he could have done it any other way, any better way, or at any other time, and seen more troops than he did. A lot of people don't agree with Bush's agenda, the war, or downplay his efforts because he's a Republican. Maybe the media response is overblown. Call it a political move if you like. But would it be beyond ourselves to consider the possibility that he really cares about our troops and he had no political motivation behind his visit to Iraq?
Kudos to President Bush and his team for pulling off a quick and slick operation that lifted the hearts of thousands of weary troops.
