Boy am I glad that we did not get that here. I was complaning because we were blessed with around 1-2".

The Weather Channel this morning back east here showed pictures of Las Vegas,NM with over 2ft of snow(a record for them)along with the assorted bad road conditions and Amarillo,TX which got over a foot of snow. As they panned around Amarillo they showed the traffic snarls of people trying to get into the big truckstops there due to poor road conditions. All I could say to myself was keep it down there as we up here have had enough for one winter season,LOL.

I've been on the driving end of a big winter snow storm from Western Oklahoma, thru the Texas Panhandle and New Mexico. Its not a fun deal and those who think our roads up here suck when it snows need to experience I-40 from the Oklahoma line to Tucumcari,NM. Across Texas and thru Amarillo they plow but only add antiskid to the bridges so on the rest of the road your on your own and that idea from them has created some of the biggest traffic snafu's I have ever seen. One time it took me and my sleeper partner 10 hours from the TX/OK line to get into NM a trip of only 170 miles.

New Mexico is another animal all its own. Once crossing into the state at San Jon you start your climb uphill onto the high desert and when snowing you need to stay with it or gamble they will shut the road down west of Albuquerque. I have raced the NM State Police to the top of the hill west of there only to loose and have to either backtrack to a truckstop or drop south on I-25 to I-10 to go west.

Nice pictures of your snow,BUT,I am certain myself and the Northeast folks have had enough and you can keep it... . LOL... ..... Andy

BIL and I drove down that way on Sunday. His daughter lives in Amarillo. It's usually 16 hours round trip from his place near Boulder. It took us 20, left at 6:00 am got home at 2:00 am. Snow and freezing rain most of the way down, but it was 50 in Amarillo. Snow all the way home, Raton pass was closed, but we found an easterly way around, put an extra 100 miles or so on. I got got to drive his PSD in lots of snow. Comfy truck, but kinda wimpy. :D

Tim,

You should've got in touch with me somehow and I could of helped you over Raton pass since I was home this weekend :-laf Here in Trinidad, the snow ranged from about a 12in town to 24in+ in the higher elevations. Of course you wouldn't have been able to go any further if you would've made it Trinidad since I-25 north was closed from Trinidad also. I guess you could've stayed at my house and put back a couple of beers :D or you could've helped me put my injectors in  :-laf ...

It was in the low 80's over the weekend, but it's really cold here now (59*). My gird heater even came on when I left work last night.

Joe, I thought about ya, but at that point all we wanted was to get home. We grabbed a samich in Raton filled up with #2 and took hwy 72 out of raton. BIL looked at the map and said it looks like a straight shot! Twisty turny steap hwy in the dark, fog and snow! There was only about 2-4" on the hwy when we got to Trinidad so we continued north.
