Towing and EGT's

Hanging in there!

Roy and Judy Byford came down from Stratford, Ok. Wed. evening to have my little crew "clear coat" their 98 Carri-lite. What delightful people! I loaned Judy one of the cars off my lot to go shopping... ... ... ... ... she still has not told Roy how much she spent. Roy and I went to the DFW Auction to pick up a project 01 Montana 5er that I had bought. I wanted him to see first hand what repo RVs (far as the eye can see) look like. I go there quite often and it still overwhelms me sometime. There must be over 500 units there awaiting release with more arriving daily. When we came back with the Montana in tow, the crew was just finishing their coach. Judy, Roy and I stood in front of their unit and we could see ourselves plan as day in the reflection. We also installed an EZ on Roy's truck and the boost elbow. That did alot to control the EGT problem he was having. They were gone when I got to the office this morning but I am sure we WILL meet again. They sure are neat folks.

I know there are a few of you that have been waiting for me to ship you some of this magic coating stuff. Please be patient a little longer. One of my applicators was going out of town on a job and came by and helped himself to about half of my stock. I know he is good for it but it sure threw my inventory out of whack. I have had a call into the supplier for 3 weeks and he just returned my call today. Should have product shortly.

News Flash: My supplier will be here monday with product!

New shiny stuff?

Howdy Barry,

My EZ with elbow is working great. A good combo with 275's. Now towing with the 3. 54's is quite pleasurable. I run about 1,900 rpms towing, and the engine sounds real good, like its just cruising. I can pull all small to moderate grades in 6th, and if I need boo-koo power I put it in 5th on the big grades and run with all the BIG DAWGS. I can run up to 72 mpg in 5th, so when I'm in 5th, it feels like I'm running about 400 H. P. , so it has no problem holding 65 mph (which is all I ever do pulling the big grades) @ about 2,500 rpms. I'm guessing I'm putting a skosh under 300 H. P. and a skosh over 600 ft. lbs. to the ground.

Anyway, what's this coating for RV's? Can it be put on the aluminum body RV's? Please give me details, I may be interested? Thanks.

Thanks Barry

Thanks for the hospitality that you showed Judy and me the last couple of days. I had a good time at your place, and really enjoyed the trip to the repo center, that was an awesome sight. The Carri-Lite turned out great also, I would highly recomend this clear coating to anyone. This is a 98 modle trailer and it looks brand new.

Barry the truck ran great on the trip home. I never had to downshift except for traffic slowdown, and the EGT's were down on average of 150-200 deg. When I got to the Arbuckles I started at the bottom at 68 mph and topped out at 68 mph @ 1200 deg. I could accelerate at any time but held it steady to keep the temp down. This baby pulls like a big dog now, but I got to get that 4" exhaust to keep the temps down.

Barry the trailer turned out beautiful and the truck runs great, I can't beleve the difference,it pulls effortlessly now.

Thank you, Thank you. Thank you!!

Roy

All right now Barry, you have my interest on two (2) points now.

First, this repo yard, is the open to anyone? How are these unit priced? Sounds like it might be a good deal.

Second, what is this clear coat you are putting on RV's? Does it work on all types of exteriors? How about trucks?

Thanks for your help.

Big Bob

Roy, glad you and Judy had a good trip home! Did Judy ever 'fess up to how much she spent???? Did you ever tell her how much you spent??? Glad you are happy with everything. I love it when a plan comes together! I need to talk to you about removing that spacer on my dually... ... ... ...

Let's see if I can answer some of the other questions.

1. The repo lot is part of Manheim Auctions and is for dealers only. I can however take someone in on the day BEFORE the auction to preview the units that are up for sale that month.

2. The prices generally are around wholesale book and sometimes a bit higher. This sale happens once a month and dealers come from 5 to 5 states to attend this sale.

3. The clear coat works on most all surfaces. I would not recommend it for a new truck but it does work well on older units that have faded and oxidized. It works great on campers, boats, school buses, steel buildings that have faded, awnings, etc. Anything that the elements have taken their toll, if there is any color left, it will bring it back.

Clear Coat

Barry, have you had the occasion to repair a small area surface like repaint and then cover the total RV with the clear coat?

I am wondering what the appearance will be? If the clear coat brings out the original color and the new repair paint is as painted then I suspect there will be a mismatch. Any thoughts?

Will the RV manufacture provide the original paint brand and code for matching purposes? The computer paint matching programs may work but with an older vehicle the paint is oxidized to the extent the original color is unknown. Thanks

One of the guys that is waiting....

Barry,

Thanks for the update on the magic coating, I really need to apply it before we go on vacation, just before the Scheid Extravaganza this month. If there is a delay, please let me know as I may have to buy Brand X:rolleyes:. Larry Crawford

Larry, Screwdinkyspanarky(we call him screwy for short) is supposed to be here today with product. I'll let you know as soon as it arrives.

Just curiuos, I have a buddy that was thinking of getting one soon and if they have them there, we may have to come see you when he gets to that point, he doesn't want a new one, just a used one that he and the family can sleep in on our 4x4 outtings.

Removing spacers

Barry

I had mine removed by Fleetpride, [ formerly City Spring] in OKC.

The only materials needed is shorter U-bolts, floor jack, and jack stands. Also an impact wrench would be helpful in removeing the U-bolts. By removing the 1" spring spacers it lowered the tailgate height appr. 2". Barry I hope this helps, if you need any more info. give me a call.

Thanks Roy

Thanx Roy, I think I will remove the spacer. I feel like I am running down hill all the time but it is not increasing the fuel mileage! How much did they charge you to do that little job???

I HAVE GOT PRODUCT!!!! All those guys that have been waiting for clear coat, will try to ship friday. Post a note to let me know if you still want the product. I only have 20 gallons.

Barry, I've got a gooseneck 3 horse slant load aluminum trailer that has a 19' box. Would a gallon be enough, and how does your product work on aluminum that's a couple of years old.

Also, please pm me the price if my application is doable.

Thanks, Ronnie
