New record

Favorite Threads Option

I keep catching threads of retailers that offer TDR members a discount on their purchases.

Can we put together a complete list in one spot that has a web link, percentage, and general product list (exhaust, gauges, chips, injectors - and so on)? I for one hate buying a high dollar item and finding out after the fact that I could have saved a fair chunk of money because the "other guy's" retail was higher, but offered us a discount.

Hey moderators, maybe a separate column in the links page?

TDR membership discounts

I started a couple of threads in the Products and Acc. forums about this.

I apologize if it is against the rules, but maybe a locked (members only) forum or section so that we - TDR members - can see who is offering the discount? I did not even know that Diesel Dynamics offered the discount until they posted that they are doing away with it. A day late and a dollar short to get my order in.

I think it's a great ideal!!! Reward those that offer a discount by letting everyone know. And then tose that do not offer a discount will maybe reconsider??

COME ON EVERYBODY!!! ESPECIALLY THOSE OF YOU WHO WORK FOR/OWN BUSINESSES THAT WE TDR MEMBERS BUY FROM!

Lets get this list going. It was stated in another thread about vendors needing to pay for advertising... Let's encourage them to sign up if they would be willing to give us a discount on purchases.

Good Idea,

I just purchased 5 gallons (1 years supply) of Stanadyne Performance Formula and shopped for price, paid $101.

About to do a case of oil filters Stratapore LF 3894 (2 years supply) and shopping for best deal. Case seems to $8 x 12, $96. Can you beat that?

Would be nice to have a central location to check first.

Not sure about prices this year, but last year I bought some LF3894 oil filters and FS19579 fuel filters from Diesel Injection Performance Products for $7. 20 and $9. 36 respectively, plus S&H. The toll free number I have for them is 1-866-468-4008 and their web site is here. They gave me a discount for quantity for those prices so ask about that.

I'd be willing to offer a discount for TDR members.

I would rather buy from a business that supports / helps TDR members than Cummins or a local commercial diesel business. Sort of keeps it in the "family". Even if it $$ a tad more. Support the folks supporting us.

Pay it forward?

Maybe we could post it in the "Pay it forward "?

We should support the company's that support the TDR members with discounts!

Heck if someone starts a thread maybe we can just keep adding to the list .

Right now we have several sections in the classifieds for exactly this purpose. There are sections for vendor promotions, group purchases, and TDR member basement enterprises. Yes, in order to post an ad in the vendor promotions section you have to be an advertiser of record - either on the website or the magazine. If you look at the website advertising rates ( https://www.turbodieselregister.com/advertising.htm ) you'll find them extremely affordable ($100/month with an average of over 5,000 ad views per day). BTW, the classifieds get a very large amount of traffic with close to 5% of the traffic on the site. If you know of a vendor offering a discount, etc please let them know about this if they don't already and have them submit an ad - you do not have to be signed up on the forums to submit an ad. On the other hand we do not require vendors that wish to post on the forums to be an advertiser - they just need to be a subscriber. They do however have to abide by the guidelines like everyone else which limits what they can post on the forums. This is because the majority of members do not wish to read advertisements in the forums - that is what the classifieds are there for.

Thanks Steve.

I sincerely hope that we can get a easy reference list of the vendors and their discounts up on this site.

I personally am in the market to dump several grand into my truck over the next year, and this list would definitely be the deciding factor in where I get my toys.

Problem I see with putting a list in the public forums is that anyone can find out where to say they are a TDR member. Doubt if many vendors have the time, ability and maybe even the desire to check out every order. Perhaps a list should be in a subscriber only section, that way it would encourage more people to join up.

A better idea might be to ask if the vendor gives a tdr discount when making the order, if they don't tell them you're going elsewhere. This might encourage more vendors to give discounts, you may even get one right on the spot.

Yes, having the list in the members only section is the way to go.

This is why I was hoping to have it in a locked thread for members only - like the PIF.

I am a *****y customer, and would just as soon not have to call and play phone tag with 15 different vendors trying to get the best price. I know, it kind of goes against the laws of free enterprise. If my wallet was'nt so tight, it would'nt be an issue.

I hope we can get it put together!

Offering A Discount

We offer a rebate as a trial to TDR Members and would be very much interested in a list as well for TDR Members Only. In order to qualify for the discount, The member, on our site, provides his screen name, (checked against the member list) then we provide a private rebate number to be used for that order.

We think for our product, if they are displayed on Rigs traveling the country, that this is a form of advertising we are willing to "pay" for in this way.

two sides to this argument IMHO

1. what about the dealer /service that has very fair prices and services. . does he have to loose profit $$ just to stay on this list. .

2. what about the dealer that marks up everything more and then gives a "discount"

profit isn't a bad word. . no profit no business guys.

but fair prices and great service is what it's all about IMHO

many fair dealers who might loose out on sales do to a list ['cause newbies don't know of them/never used them]... also some of those dealers have monthly specials

Peter / SBC, Piers / PDR, are a couple examples that come to mind. . these guys have storefronts that have monthly fixed costs with building rents, light. . heat. . power... payroll expenses. . so because I give you a discount [which may or may not be a good price going in] do these guys loose out on everyday sales that they have to have to keep the doors open. .

I think that some do diligence is the best method of who your going to buy from, as well as a relationship with a vendor who gives you great advice and services. this will go much farther than a "list of discounts"

just some other side of the coin thoughts.
