You could be correct, but IIRC, Ford never made enough of the OHC 427's to meet the homologation rules of selling 500 for street use. It became relegated to a drag racing engine. Can you imagine what that would cost? The pushrod 427 in a '66 Galaxie I had was almost $1000 over the 289.

Yup- and back then, a thousand bucks was serious money!

Pops had a 67 Galaxie convertible when I was little. I remember alot of summer evenings cruising around town with the top down and the radio up. We even had matching shades we used to wear when we were in that car together. I remember thinking we were the coolest things since sliced bread :cool:
 
In 1968 Ford offered three 7 liter engines... ... ... . 427, 428 and 429... ... who else can say that:-laf
