OK I just finished my install of my banks power pack (2K ouch!!) and I was wondering it seems a little weak. I was promised 650 ft. lbs. of tire smoking tourqe but it seems not to run much better than the HO I drove at the dealer's lot recently. It's a 2001 auto and it feels like it picked up about 100 ft. lbs not 300. And just think, I could've had an EZ.

The meager power gains you feel could possibly be due to your TC and VB not being strong enough to put all of that power to the ground. You should get in touch with Bill K and let him hook you up with his setup. You won't be disappointed in his work.

Start with the transmission, but let Banks know there is a problem, I had a heck of a time getting mine finally working. We sent parts back and forth for several weeks before they finally got it right. My power pack with 275 injectors dyno'd at 294 hp and 700tq, with the EZ installed also it dyno'd 340/820 with a "bogdown" run showing about 370/920. The EZ also gave me better mileage and lowered my EGT's. I definitely recommend buying an EZ after you get over paying the high price of Banks. You'll also want a Psycotty air or the like to lower EGT's once you get the Banks working.

BTW, you can disconnect the wire that controls the 650 tq limit, I believe it is the Blue wire. I wouldn't recommend it till you visit Bill K. though.

Driving the truck at part throttle it feels great but when I floor it from a dead stop it just seems lazy. It ran 63 mph in the eighth before and 68 afterward but i thought it would break 70 for sure. When you say you sent parts back and forth was that the OTTO mind? boost is 32psi and egt is 1250 so I assume that the ottomind is adding the fuel. I would hate to have to spend the money for an EZ when I just forked out the money for this Banks NoPower Pack

Charles

only 32psi boost ? i know someone on this site that has the power pack on a 2001 with hy35 and he is getting 40 psi , did you modify the wastegate actuator per banks instructions ?

but yes , you must get into the trans , call DTT . you have the potential to slip the TC , minimum is a VB , but the TC makes a world of difference .

Yes I modified the wastegate per instructions. It's strange, from a roll, say 50 or so, the truck runs like a rocket, but when I launch from a dead stop it just won't pull like I think it should. Could I be expecting too much? I thought that at least I should be able to spin the tires at least a little. Now i've owned the truck for only a week or so and it has 20000 miles on her do I need to look at some things like lift pump or fuel filters?

C-Dub,
I sounds like you answered your own question when you said that when you are at 50 its runs like a rocket... . that's probably because your torque converter is locked up at that speed. That pretty much indicates that you are losing the power through the transmission in gears 1-3. Bill K. the man to see... I have only installed his VB and it made a big difference... . I drove his truck with the TC and it is amazing!

I had several Ottominds and temp sensors and all before we finally got it right. The Banks kit builds way too much heat way too quickly. From a start by the time you get where your TC is locked up, you have most likely hit the heat limit and the Ottomind is cutting fuel back, mine will hit 1350, then fall back to 1250 where it will stay. From 50 you are starting out with cool EGT's and you can give it extra fuel.
I have the HX35 turbo, with my wastegate disabled I hit 30-32 psi empty and 38-40 psi loaded.

How bout this one. . has anybody ran thier truck in the 1/8 mile to give me some indication what my mph should be? Like 600 ft. lbs on the dyno and 72mph in the eight. this way I could tell how weak my truck is. Now as for a fueling box, other thaan the otto mind whose should I be looking at? EZ? And where is the best place to get them. I'll definitly call about transmission upgrades today... . I really don't need to make that house payment every month do I?

carl has a pe and ez both for sale $400. 00 each. gently used #ad

CW, you need to be thinking trans. before EZ, you are not getting it to the ground (especially if completly stock trans. ) Bill K. with DTT can get you set up where you need to be otherwise you will continue to do nothing but destroy your trans and not gain the power you have paid for. Just my opinion.
