Wear of rubber molding around doors

Any one having problem with the molding wearing around the front doors of their 2005 model. I have 13,000 plus miles and both the front doors have the molding warn down to almost half of what it was new at about the 2 o'clock position on the front post. Have not noticed any added road noise or water getting in but it is concerning and is beginning to look like it would not and could not wear any further, however do not think it should wear like that at all. Taking to dealer next week, but not the dealer I bought from as it is 1500 miles away, hope they will work with me. I be the Racokid

My door molding is torn near the bottom of the windshield. My dad has a 2004 1500 and his is also torn in the same place. Dealer said it is a design flaw that they have not found a permanet fix for yet. Also said they will replace them under warranty but they will tear again.

Ya there is a TSB out on a fix for the trim on the third gen trucks. Except it dosent fix it. I just had my dealer document the problem so maybe someday the will be a real fix

Seems to be a common problem, had mine replaced at approx. 10k miles.

For the tear point, I carry a can of silicone spray under the back seat and about once a month lube that couple of inches on each side. No wear since.

i've had mine replaced 2x in 9 months . the latest "fix" seems to work. door clears the newly designed rubber

I generally avoid wearing my rubber moldings... they don't fit very well.

I second Gerry's suggestion with silicone spray. I lube mine a few times a year with it. They are showing no wear.

From what I've read and the service manager I deal with these rubber runs have been updated changed several times. The latest and greatest seem to work ok now.

Gotta get me another set... my second set tore faster than the first.

I installed the door seals last week. These do not rub near as bad as the previous seals. Real easy to install just slide over the drip rail around the doors took 10 mins. These are my third set and are definitely a new design. They do not get pinched as the old seals and barely rub the door corner. It looks like these will do the trick.

Any chance you have the part number? My original weather strip was replaced at about 3500 miles with 55276941-AA. I'm now at about 5300, and it's torn again.

I too had the afore mentioned part numbers installed at the dealer's and have had no further issues as of yet.

Mine were replaced last week and are not the same as what was in there before. Looks like these are a better design. Time will tell. the first set tore after 3 months.

Had mine replaced at 2,700 miles. Told service writer I heard they were a problem, He told me that this was the first he has heard of it. Not getting that warm and fuzzy feeling about my dealer. At 5,000 miles now and still in good shape. Hopefully they last.

Eaither a new service writer or they don't do much truck business. The problem is on 1500 etc. The LITTLE dealer(3 techs)I use has replaced many many sets of these.

Thanks for that part #, I just redid mine for the second time with that number and there is a big difference. . these should last a real long time.
