I looking for a cold weather block or something that fits between the radiator and the intercooler? I don't know where to look for this product? If so, is it a good product?

thanks
Frank

Piece of cardboard works excellent, cut a 8" hole in the center to get airflow for the inner cooler. Leave the top about an inch long so you can get a grip on it to remove. I had one installed in my 2500 a couple of years ago when I drove south to Mexico,I remembered to remove it when my gauge started climbing on a steep hill on a 95 degree day. These trucks have an excellent cooling system.

I made one out of vinyl fabric, put tabs on top to go over the rubber hood stops. Put an 8" hole in the middle, works great plus all you need to do is pull it out and fold it up. Total cost was about 5. 00 and one hours time.

I also use cardboard. Just stuff it between the intercooler and the radiator. The price is right, it's totally adjustable for size and BOMBing mods and always available!

In your TDR issue there is a woman who makes them. I bought mine from her a few years back and it's great. She advertises in the classifieds section.

One caution, DO NOT PUT IT IN FRONT OF THE INTERCOOLER. Put it between the cooler and radiator. (live and learn or PAY dearly)

JUST HOW MUCH ARE YOU GUYS COVERING?

The manual implies to leave at least 10% uncovered. Elsewhere on this board one poster pointed out that the bumper openings should fit that if what's behind them is left uncovered.

Additionally, the manual makes mention of a Mopar Part, I don't know what it looks like but if someone can post a pic that could help.

One things certain, you don't want to cook a cummins any more than ya'd wanna freeze one... got watch that H2O and EGT.

I have to ask on this one, I've waited a long time hoping to see a good reason, but...

Why do we need a 'cold front' on our trucks? Why am I trying to keep the radiator from getting cooling air?

I live in a cold region and can't find anyone to tell me why beyond the old 'because'...

David_VT, I use it 'cause its only 5 miles to work and in winter it helps to heat it up before I get to work. In summer its warm by 1-2 miles, in winter it might make it by the time I get there, sooo the cold front is used.

Take care up there or over there whichever place u b currently (just know u there not there).

I don't have a picture of the Mopar cover, but have seen two of them installed, both guys said they'd rather have the four piece Lund cover like I use. The Mopar units are black vinyl and leave the bumper inlets open for the 10% open area. If you have a bug shield it has to come off for the Mopar. I use a winter front because I like the heater to work ASAP when it's -10°. The engine will do just fine in cold temps without a cover,it's just me that I'm concerned about.

Thanks for your answers. I will try the card board trick until I can get the lund set-up in. Do I have to remove the bug deflector to install(dodge bug deflector)?

Frank

Frank, when I got my Lunds I had to cut about1/4" off the top of the top two inserts(I used heavy duty scissors),then used a round file to make two 1/8"deep x 1/4" wide notches to clear the screw heads for the OEM bug guard. It's best to do this before you take the protective plastic film off the plexiglass.
