am I the only one finding the pages loading slow tonight? maybe its a problem with my internet provider.

I was on the road today on my bike (rode 600 miles to New York for a rally) and when I arrived here I received 3 alerts from the server (between 8:55 and 9:10 pm eastern) that the web server was down. I logged in to the server to find that it wasn't actually down but was running extremely slowly. There were several apache processes that were locked up loading up the server. I rebooted the server at that point and it should be better now.



I have also been working on slow performance from the new server for the last couple weeks. There seems to be a bug in one of the newer upgraded versions of either apache, php, freebsd, or the libraries. I am working on it with our freebsd guru as best I can. I hope to have it back fully functional soon.



Later this year we are also going to be installing additional servers behind a load balancer to deal with the loads we'll be placing on the site this winter.

Something's really wrong! It's taking a minute or more to load a page, and some pages are timing out before they will load. That's even true here at the office where I'm running on a T1. The problem, from what I'm seeing, is unique to TDR - all of the other forums I frequent are snapping right up on the screen as usual.

Noticed this too. As of about 12:20 pm (Pacific), it's still slow. Thought it was my service, but as noted above, everything else pops up fast. Thanks for working on this, Steve!

Its actually so slow because of all the people taking up bandwith saying how slow it is. :-laf

Update From Steve

I just talked to Steve on the phone. He's made some temporary modifications that should help relieve some of the speed issues.



This speed problem appears to be a hardware problem, and he is working on it. We will add new equipment as soon as we can identify the problem and optimal solution.
