Question on Private Messages.

One thing I didnt see was the "view new posts" since last on... ... . Besides all the great info that was the 1st thing that attracted me to join... ... the "other" sites used that stupid "view the last days posts" option like I see you have on the new screen... ...

Much prefer to come in, click one button and see ALL the new posts in all the forums since I last marked as read... ...

Now maybe I just missed it but I dont think so :(... ... ... Other than that it looked ok... ... But like some others said..... dont fix what aint broke lol!

You just weren't logged in Shaft. The view new posts option relies on data in your user profile so it doesn't show up if you aren't logged in ;) . It's still there.

Rory - It should stop when it gets to the left edge of that box and shouldn't loop - is it not doing that on your machine? If it isn't what browser are you running?

jblock - that was my concern but everyone I've talked to about it directly have liked the new look. For those that think it looks too busy you'll have the option to turn off all the borders so that it looks much like it does now. You can see what that looks like by logging in (at the bottom of the forum page) and then click on the User Control Panel button, then click on "Edit Options", then go to the bottom of the screen and change the style set to "No Borders". That will turn off all of the 3d borders.

New Colors.

I think we should get a few optional colors. Maybe start a poll and see which color comes out on top. When will this upgrade integrated.

And I agree with TDK... . we need the avatars. :{ ;)

Also, I agree with Jbolt. Can you move the PM notifier to the top of the page instead of the bottom. That way when you open the window you will see it before you scroll down. I rarely scroll to the bottom so I never know if I have any PM's without cecking the Control Panel. :)

The avatars will not be coming back. They were a huge bandwidth hog (30% of the traffic on the site!) and slowed down page loading for people on dial up connections greatly. One of the concerns when people were testing the new look was that they didn't want it if it would slow things down - bringing the avatars back would do so greatly!

On the PM notification - when you have a new PM a pop up window comes up telling you that you have a new private message. That window pops up on top of anything you have running!

On the colors - the magazine, logo, etc is all based on a red design. That's the reason it's red on here and I doubt that will change any time soon - it was a decision made by the owners some time ago.

Cool..... the PM pop up window works. I didn't realize that you had to turn that option on in the Edit Options page. Is this something I missed with the old version or is it new to this one. It will be nice to know when I get a PM. Great work :)

Steve,

It's not the red I have trouble with, it's the small black lettering - It sort of blurs into the red. The white lettering is easy to see in the red. Is it possible to change the lettering to white instead of black?

It's looping for me too - at about 90 mph. I think it's going to give me a siezure. :)

I'm running Mozilla 1. 2. 1 on win2000.

Personally I like it. I'll have to try it at home to see if it's faster - I generally connect at 19. 2K..... so speed is an issue. At work tho this T1 does a pretty good job with anything... .

Good job Steve. Cool TDR moving turbo icon!!

Layout is helpful for those of us who are getting older and get eye fatigue real easy. ( Getting a 17" monitor with this new computer didn't hurt either!)
