I would wager close to a 60 HP increase at 1800, and 20 to 40 hp increase at 2400 to 2700 over stock. Anything more and, well you know.

Bingo!

I called Jeff two weeks ago. They dynoed the Raptor but did not have a stock truck to do it in. The closest thing they had was one with 275 injectors. Don't come down on them too hard yet. They just didn't send out results. I don't think they are hiding anything. Jeff had some pretty interesting results from the dyno concerning weight/horsepower numbers but I'll leave it to him to publish. Seems like the drag truck spent the most time on the dyno.

Yeah, the drag truck kept having turbo problems. Since Jeff doesn't run an Intercooler, he has a regular HX-40 with the compressor side of the turbo sorta cocked about 30 degrees above horizontal. However, something must not have been holding right because the compressor side kept twisting more towards vertical and blowing the tube from the turbo to the intake. That took some cussing and some wrenching and some fabricating to get things right. However, I would like to pose a question. Picture a 12 valve pumping out abount 375 hp with a HX40 running above 4500 RPM with a 4 inch exhaust that exits right behind the front wheel... ... . Is it suposed to be loud enough to cause bleeding from the eardrum  ?

Thanks BU. If the numbers don't prove what they are saying at Raptor, we'll tell you. I don't have stock in the company and I don't have anything to hide. I like the box and will stay with what I like. I'm certainly not going to swear on a gain of 80. It is strong.

bleeding ear drums

let me get this straight--was the engine turning 4500 RPM, or the HX40? i would expect the turbo to be much more than that. if he's kicking the 12v up to 4. 5k RPM, has he balanced the engine?? i don't know much about diesel performance, but my C8. 3 is governed at 2200 RPM. i had assumed they would self destruct at higher RPM????

Please correct me if I'm wrong. How can you get 80 HP without piercing the injection pump wiring because you're having to contend with the limitations of the injection pump as long as you're adding addition fuel through the ecm.

Replying to RedneckDr.

Buddy, I have no idea what kind of RPMs the HX40 was twisting. The 4500 was an estamate of mine on the RPMs, Jeff will turn anywhere from 4500 to 5000 RPMs depending on the situation (Dragracing or walking the truck across the parking lot... ... . sideways). I imagine it shouldn't be done, but I've seen a MPEG of Piers turning around 4k or plus doing a burn-out, I don't know if Jeff has blueprinted the engine, but I doubt it.

Alos, keep in mind that this truck was trailered to the dyno.

jeff's truck

actually, i've seen jeff's truck... ... ... ... but it wasn't running:D i went to one of the wrenchings at STP a coupla months ago. jeff was too busy to fire it up that day... ... ... . i'm not surprised, i guess that he's turning 4500-5000K RPM. i just wasn't aware that the CTD would take that RPM without throwing something. i'm an old man now. engines were "balanced" in my younger days. i guess the politically correct term now is "blueprinted". ;) since i live just north of atlanta, i'll be back to STP in the future... ... maybe for a Raptor???
