Did the new truck perform as expected? :eek:

guys maddog and lenny blew a head gasket. i think maddog ran a 11. 6. lenny ran a 12. 5. i will post a video of lennys run a little later. he actually smoked the passenger front tire on the launch!!
 
The Drags were a really big dissapointment

I think the drags last year were way better then this year.



I was very dissapointed... :(



People had to wait over an hour and a half to see the diesels run. They put them in a braket class with all the kiddie dragsters and every one else.



Edge's truck ran a 11. 2, but it looked like it had a few problems.



I only saw Madsen run once, 11. 5. That was getting all four rubber for about 15 feet!!!



I thought I heard someone say that the edge tuck bent a couple of push-rods on thier last rune.



I am out the door to the dyno part of the whole thing. I will find out more.

Every one broke there stuff at the drap strip...



I guess they should have made it the other way around.



I think Dee Rawson made 520 RWHP @ 45 psi. That was with a huge crack across his intercooler.



Monday there should be more talk about it...
 
Did anyone get to see the new Juice w/Attitude. The DD dealer down the road from Edge was going to test one on a road trip and then go the the get together. Any sightings?

The edge truck blew a head gasket little before half way down the track and coasted the rest of the way down and still got 15 second quarter mile. Truck sounded good!!
 
I was also disapointed with the weekend. I was not able to go to the drags, doesn't sound like I missed much.



I showed up to the shindig in Ogden after being told by Edge among other people that there was going to be a bunch of vendors. Must have just missed them , huh? Talked to a few TDR members there and got the same answers from them, Not to impressive.



Saw some great looking trucks though. Next year I hope to dyno. Need my clutch first.

Tough crowd. Personally I am glad to see folks like Maddog and Edge make shake down passes in front of many. It shows the spectators that there is alot more to going fast than HP. And the more these things are pushed to the limit, the more failures we'll see. The Edge ride is very sweet and should make for some exciting racing. I say keep'em coming.



And congrats to Edge for bringing a 1st class Pro ride to the diesel race arena. I'm jealous. Give me a 7 second head start and I'll race it! :p
 
I must say I had a great time despite having some problems on my first pass. Not sure yet if it's a head gasket or the oil cooler (Right now we are leaning toward the oil cooler) I was puzzled why the truck was under powered and down on boost until I discovered that I ran in the valet mode. The truck also had a traction issue spinning all four, but still managed a 1. 67 60'. I think the truck has 1. 5? 60' if I can keep the tires hooked up. It was the pits not being able to run it on the dyno, but I had a good time anyway, and I want to thank Edge for putting on a great event.
 
Sorry to hear about all the problems the trucks had. We should all know by now that when you put out this kind of power and these kinds of 1/4 times things WILL break and bend and fall off and do whatever they please at times :rolleyes: We would never have gotten to where we are without a lot :eek: of blow up turbos and melted pistons. More power to the guys willing to bust there rigs and there pocket books in the name of fast diesels!!! :D



Nowel would be proud :D



Now I gotta see what I can break at Mission this weekend!!! :-laf
 
There were 50 trucks that dynoed, Dee Rawson put out the most HP on straight Diesel, at 503 hp. One other truck (duramax) put out 572 hp, but was on drugs(NOS).



Lowest powered truck was a 99' Ford PS 227 hp/517 tq.

A rundown of the event. No one had control of the weather, but we had 97 degrees, a corrected altitude of just under 8000', a slick track, 2300 people in the stands, 63 racers, and lot's of slow times resulting from the above.

Edge's truck is GORGEOUS! The work has just begun for them and I wish the crew the best of luck, maybe we'll see them during May Madness or Thunder in Muncie next year???? :) By far the nicest Pro truck I have ever seen. It was like looking at one of Bickel's Pro Stock cars, sweet!

Richard's pass was a good look into the future for that platform. Traction problems, loss of boost and in valet mode to run an 11. 55 @ 118 MPH tells me where he is headed. Richard never wants to make a solid pass when I attend an event, but he definitely has the potential of holding the new record when he gets things ironed out.

The most impressive thing for me was the ride in the V-10 Toureg. 553 lb-ft of torque= nuff said!

Gypsyman, I didn't hear anything about the Juice. Justin had a beta unit on his truck.
 
Sorry to read of the problems... but I too know that's a time on the track issue . . things will get sorted out soon I'm sure



Richard what size tires did you have on for the runs ??

I had a great time this weekend.

I found out how hard it is to shift a 5 speed drag racing :{

The first two passed I missed 3rd a total of three times. The 2nd run it ran it's best MPH 103. 7. The first two runs it was making 65 PSI in 3rd and 4th. The 3rd run I got the shifting right and it ET better but I lost 6 MPH and 20 PSI. I checked all the clamps and boots and then I saw the problem one of the lower intercooler tubes had split and blown open on my new 24 valve intercooler :(



I raced on and lost in the first round breaking out by . 06(15. 54 on a 15. 60). I was hard on the brakes at the end but not hard enough :eek:



I went home cleaned and JB welded the intercooler tube for the dyno the next day. It held (60PSI)on the way over and on my warm up run but the first dyno pass it let go again. It would only make 43 PSI on the dyno but unlike last year I was able to drive it off the dyno instead of getting pushed :-laf

It made 598. 7 HP uncorrected and 503. 8 corrected. The Superflow Dyno is a kind of a strange dyno. The Duramax that Wayne(amsoilman) said got 574 was uncorrected numbers he had 496. 4 HP. He was running NOS, Propane, and water system.



It was hot but overall an very great time. This event has become bigger every year and this year it was even bigger. I wish my two buddies could have been there is see it. Nowel was looking down on us and Steve(HebeRam) laying out in the sun dreaming of being there.



All my Thanks goes out to the Edge guys, It doesn't get much better than Free Drag racing!!! :D Oo. Oo. :cool:
