Toy Hauler Question

On the way to Glamis, I hit the scales at Flying J. Truck full of fuel, my duffel bag of clothes, a case of water, a decent bag of tools, and a spare propane tank tied against the headboard. Toyhauler is full of fresh water, propane X2, Gen/Fuel station full of gas, 2 full 5 gal gas cans, 20 gallons fresh water in jerry cans near the back door, the X3 full of fuel and tools, my portable floor jack and my Snappy FJ200. I am solo, so no passengers. Only about 1K more than I guessed on gross, but the drive axle is catching heck.

Not a bad GCW at all, maybe you can shift some weight a little more.
By the nu.bers I guess, but I cut my teeth driving grossly overloaded lumber wagons, and if that tag was not there I'd defy anyone to drive this and tell me the chassis can't handle it. With 35 pounds in the bags it goes down the road as nice as you please. It is darn impressive. The 6.4 is not happy, but given that weight ticket. I gotta say for a gasser it is a hoss.

The only thing of consequence I can move back is the X3 but I load it so there is enough room to walk behind it. Plus it has rearward weight bias anyway, so there is very little to gain.

I knew I was pushing this truck when I ordered the toyhauler. There is a Cummins in my future. Maybe even DRW.

I've considered 19.5s, but bolted to a 4500:D
But seriously, I wanted what I wanted on the trailer, and it was sort of a gamble on the truck being capable. It's not like I went out and bought the truck for this trailer. Next month the truck will be four years old. I have talked it over with the boss, and she is OK with a new tow rig. Waiting for Ram to reveal the new Cummins, then figure out dually pickup or C&C. I love the C&C, but not the de-tuned motor.

I have been following Wiredawg's C&C adventures.

One of my local dealers has a 2018 5500 4x4 C&C with an aluminum flat bed on it for $60K. Really nice truck for the money.

The 19.5s are a good idea but with the extra inches and rotating mass (they are heavy) the gasser would not like it one bit with the trailer weight also. You want a Cummins anyway!
