Off Roading Should I?????????

Competition DHRA Points pull, this Sat,23rd

Well, after 3 years of building up my truck and worrying about it being over 8000LBS I finally got to weigh it yesterday!

For those that don't know its a CK-style GMC crew-cab Dually that I dropped a Cummins/6-speed/241HD, Dodge D60 front and 11. 5AAM rear.

The truck was originally a Reg-cab 2wd with a 350/5-speed and it weight 6700Lbs.

With all the Mods and with me in it (250Lbs) it is only 7520Lbs!!! I had nothing but smiles when I saw the scale zero in on it! I was really worried it was going to be over 8000 after hearing about alot of Dodge Quad-cab duallys pushing almost the 8K mark!

So it looks like I am going to have to start fabricating my front weight bracket so I can hang the difference out front.

One question... how many guys have gone with a roll pan in the rear and lost the tail gate for pulling? I figure I could shave at least 100 right there.

There are pics in my Readers Rig's section if anyone one wants to see it.

WOW... thats a good weight... . i would have guessed you would be 8 or a little over.

it's nice to be able to hang the weight out where you want it

Cool Ryan,

Not sure how much your rear bumper wieghs but if you do the roll pan you may want to do sledd bumpers as well so the wieght muight be a trade off.

Thanks Man!!! you are helping me out with ALOT of idea's on this project! The stock bumper I would say weights around 40-50lbs and if I lose the tail gate for pulling I would say thats another 80. I will definatly be making a set of sled bumpers! seen to often what happens when you don't have something like them!

Thanks again... Ryan

Wow, that is amazing - so a 4wd conversion, crew cab conversion, and a CTD/5600 swap only added 800 lbs?! Did you put helium in the tires or something? :)

Do you have pics of it up anywhere? I'd like to see it...

Scott- Good to finally meet you in person!!! The class actually was re-started after the tractors pulled but we decieded just to leave... track was still a mess afterwards!

BBD- yeah I will have to get some more pictures... truck is running great and just wants to be pulled bad but I am trying to resist the urge for a little!
