Hey folks,

I'm leaving for Utah in 1 1/2 days, and I've come to the conclusion that I need a WDH. Now, my questions:

How common are these? Do you think that It will have to be ordered? How hard are they to install? What are my options? What are the costs of these, do they have specific ratings?

As far as the load, here are my numbers as they currently stand:

Tongue: 740

Truck:7400

Total: 16,600 (plus about 300lbs to go)

Well any and all suggestions would be GREAT! I'm leaving Thurs morning, so time is TIGHT!

Thanks,

Corey

There are a lot of options out there. Hensley and others. Price can be a big issue. I have the reese dual anti sway and it works well. Do a search and you should come up with quite a few good threads.

I can recommend the Reese Class V receiver which is mated up to my EZRider W/D airhitch - see the link details in the sigfile below. I found the company to be very helpful and they delivered to me in Europe.

With this configuration, I'm all set to take my other 4x4 toy along on it's trailer with a total all-up gross trailer weight of a little over 3,000kg with a good safety margin.

Looks like you will be buying a new set at over $200. Yes they have different ratings so go higher in case you upgrade to a heavier trailer. The most popular around here are Draw-Tite and Reese. Easy to install if you follow the instructions.

For used sets you can checkThe Hitch Trader

I've got a weight distributing hitch 'head' (part that slides into the receiver on your truck) that you can have - just pay for the shipping. It was given to me and I have no foreseeable use for it - haven't used it in the two years I've had it. I looks like it had the small anti-sway ball mount cut off - otherwise it looks pretty good. I'm not sure what brand/rating it is but I can measure/take pictures if you'd like. It fits a 2" receiver.

John, How do you like your air hitch? I've been trying to figure out how well it would work with a weight distributing set up. About how much are these things? Think they're worth it? Thanks for any info. I looked at their web site, not much info.
