Off Roading New Quad suggestions?

Competition Comp, can you expand on this statement?

Anyone know what a set of stock piston rings weighs for a 5. 9?

Someone who has balanced a crank has got to know this.

Why worry about the weight ? It's the tension they apply to the bore that I am concerned about. Less tension= less friction loss... ...

yes, But that's not what he asked. In order to ballence a crank you need to add the weight of the barrings, rods, rod pin, pistons, rings so the recipocrating mass can be ballenece correctly.

I do not. I'm assuming a service manual won't have it either. Could you not purchase a set and then return them? (or use them?). .

Yeah, I can easily buy some, I was just hoping some one might know the weight off hand.

I got some junk parts that we have been fooling around with, and am tying to do all of this as low buck, as possible, so that way when we get to the real stuff, we don't screw as much.

When you balance an inline 6 cylinder, which is an inherently balanced engine you don’t need a bob weight. I have extensive experience with inline 6 cylinders, and you don’t figure a bob weight, you make sure that every component weighs the same , IE pistons , the big and little end of the rods , wrist pins in my experience the rings and bearings weight the same , and aren’t touched . Balancing is a art anyway, because in a V8 engine you figure a bob weight, and then decide from experience, or other factors as to what amount you overbalance, as in a Pro Stock style motor is over balanced buy up to 150 %

If you want to verify this you can call one of the best balancing shops around, Auto Shop Racing engines, 940 692 1911, they have more experience with inline motors then almost anyone.
