Out of the clear blue last week the CEL came on for the 1st time ever. 65,000 miles on the ticker. Checked codes and there was a 237, and 602. Cleared the codes and light came on right away again. The only code that came back was is 237. I did check the ground connections and the terminal at the MAP sensor which seemed ok.

Today I cleared the codes and took SMARTY off of #7 and set it to #2 due to I had to haul 3000 lbs of stone. The SMARTY has been on #7 been for the last 2 years. Truck runs flawlessly whether the CEL is on or not. As soon as I left the house today the CEL comes on and drive about 45 miles, load (squat) the truck, take off with the load and the light goes out. The light so far has stayed off driving the 45 miles to get home and unload. I haven't checked but I'm sure the the 237 will be set due to the light being on... Why driving loaded caused the CEL to go out???

I'm wondering if the MAP sensor was loaded up with soot or something causing the light to come on prior to today. Like maybe hauling cleaned it out???

I was going to replace the MAP sensor but having reservations now. Has anyone out there had an experience like this?

I had a problem with codes not resetting even after cleared. I run the Adrenaline so the Smarty maybe different. Mine require a wire direct to the negative on the battery. Somebody forgot to reconnect after doing some other work. I would say check and clean all grounds even if they look good. A good first step when you have any electrical problems

I don't think the SMARTY had anything to do with it. I'm just thinking the MAP sensor was getting loaded with soot or something. I did see the article in the last TDR issue regarding the MAP and APPS sensor adjustment but I have had no dead pedal issues.

I am sure your correct about the Smarty sorta of thinking out load and writing at the same time. Not always a good thing to do.

Has any one out there who has pulled the MAP sensor seen soot loaded up on it?

I would pull mine but I have a cracked rib and can't lay out on the engine to reach it :mad: .
