Anybody running 20" Weld Cheyenne's? Thinking about getting a set of 20"s and a set of 35" Toyo's but being a total doofus about wheels, I am wondering if I would have rubbing issues. I am totally stock except a 2 inch leveler.

Look forward to any responses.

If you find out what the offset and backspace is as well as how wide the wheel is. . these guys will tell you if it will rub or not. My guess is that it will. :(

A 35" tires are 35" tires regardless of the wheel they are mounted on.

Having said that, Huskerman is correct it all depends on the back spacing of the new wheel. With the 2" leveling kit you will not experience any rubbing with the stock back spacing, but should the new wheel have 1" or less back spacing than stock and you will probably experience fender rubbing during your turns.

Hope this helps

What makes it even worse is if you go with a wider wheel than stock (8"). You've got to go with a 4. 5" lift to clear 35's with a "standard" aftermarket backspace wheel. I don't know of any 20" wheels out there that have our 6" backspace. There are a few 18" wheels that will work.

Thanks for the information guys. I had a feeling that 20"s probably wouldn't work with just a 2 inch leveler.

I completely forgot (like I said, I am a doofus about wheels) that 20"s typically come in 10 inch and 12 inch flavors. With that much width, my guess is that even WITH the proper backspacing I would see rubbing on the fender liners. I don't mind if the rub occassionally at wheel lock but rubbing all the time would bug me.

Am I off-base in my thinking about a 10 or 12 inch wide tire?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but

I think you meant 10 or 12 inch wheel.

The Banks sidewinder that was featured on Extreme 4x4 had the Kore setup with 20x10 Weld velocity wheels with the standard 4-5" backspace. As you probably know, the Race system lifts the front only about 2. 5". They made the wheels work by trimming the fenders and the leading edge of the bumper. It looked like they trimmed about 1" off of the rear part of the wheel well opening. You can call Banks and see if you can get a set of their fenders, but when I called about 8 months ago, noone knew much about anything on that truck.

I asked a local body guy that does great work about trimming the fenders on my truck, and he recommended I not do it because of the expense and other options I had for making 35's work. I ended up going with the KORE/Weld wheels, the Pace (now Recon) system, and 35" Toyo's, no rubbing, and I was very happy with the setup. I really hated to sell that system, but maybe I'll get the Ultimate Race System next!

If you can stomach it, a compromise might be to get 18" wheels and less lift with the proper offset. I hate compromising though.

Here's a motto for ya:

There's no monetary reason that any problem can't be solved. It's just a matter of whether or not you want to spend the money to accomplish what you want.

Yes, I meant wheels, sorry. Thanks Spooled, I would much rather compromise than cut the fenders and/or bumper.

18"s would look pretty darn good if they fit. I really want to go with the Weld Cheyenne wheels. Do they make them in 18x8. 5?

I believe only the Kore Welds offer the 8. 5 width. Otherwise I think they are 9. 75... . not positive on that though. This is all regarding the Cheyenne wheels... don't know about other designs.

BTW, why can't I find a link to purchase the "Kore Welds" on Kore's website any more???

I believe they're sold out. They're working on a beadlock style wheel now.

I hope I never bend one of mine. I'll have to switch to another wheel completely.

I thought that the Weld Cheyenne's are the exact same wheel. Am I wrong?

The Weld Cheyenne's are not the same as Kores Cheyenne's. The offset and backspace are different as well as the width. The Weld ones will stick out, the Kore's will not. Not sure about the hub centric aspect.

I checked into this a while back. Weld claims to have a # of these Kore specific wheels to handle warranty claims and the like... . like bent wheels   Let's hope we never have to go there ;)

At a minimum there's a 5 yr. warranty on the finish so they would have to keep them around at least that long... . I would think.

wheels

I was going to put cheyennes on mine with just a level kit and they got them mounted and went to pull out of the stall and they hit the fender so I went with the velocity 8s instead

Thanks for the help to those that responded, much appreciated.

After doing a ton of research I came to the following conclusions.

1) I don't like the "street" look as much as I thought I would.

2) The difference in tire price between 20"s and 18"s was unbelievable!!!

3) I don't have a lift, only a leveler and I don't want a lift at this point as my truck fits in the garage.

In the end, I think I will be sticking with my H2 wheels although I might go with a 325 next time out instead of a 315.

id like to let you think that, but lets say the finish falls off, or they break under normal use... then weld has to replace it with something that does the job just as well. they can give you a rim you dont like ad legaly they ar egood. am i saying this will happen? no. but it is possible. it does not have to be an exact wheel, just something with the same features. when i have seen this happen they will swap out all the rims in your set. 4, 5, 6, or 7. how many ever you have...
