While flushing coolant on my truck, I noticed the front frame cross-member just behind and below the radiator is cracked at the weld to the longitudinal frame member.

The crack looks shiny, so I think it's recent.

I need to get the crack back together with chains, straps&pulleys, whatever (anyone have any ideas), then once it's in the right place I need to grind out the old weld and then weld it up.

My question is, what do I need to disconnect other than the two batteries?

Thank you,

KRS

I was always told that by disconnecting the batteries, you will not have any electrical related problems from welding. I don't think it matters, but I try and put the ground clamp close to the area being welded.

I checked it out again, and it's a stinkin scratch on the frame... . good grief what a relief. I was under the truck last week with a paint scraper removing grease buildup and put a gouge right there.
