Well hand pumps

I am looking into a hand pump for my well in the mountains. The static level is somewhere in the area of 50', the well is 180' . Would like to put a hand pump at 100'. Does anyone have any experience with hand pumps? I have found a few priced at $800. 00 to $1200. 00 . I would like to find something a little cheaper. I still have to put in a electric pump, tank, and all when we build the house in three years. Still have to have the water tested and should pump it out a couple of times to get a good sample.

A friend of mine who is off the power grid used one made of PVC called the Piccolo until he got a solar powered pump. Still wasn't cheap though.

I have looked at them. They do look like they will work. I don't know maybe I should just bite the bullet and get my electric in. I have a generater for power. The Bison is the one I am leaning towards in hand pumps. http://www.bisonpumps.com/main.htm



Would love to have hand and electric, cause you never know. I am a long way from the nearest store or town. But we do have a comunity well down the road a ways.

A place called Lehmans in Ohio sells a lot of stuff specially geared towards the Amish community. I'd be they'd have something.

I dont think they have a web site, and I'm at work so I dont have their number with me.

There's a place local here in Colorado for you, Dean Bennett Supply. Judging by his website he seems to have everything, but I haven't done any business with him yet. He does have hand pumps listed.

Where's your place in the mountains? We run a hobby batch of cows on 50 acres in South Park, down by Hartsel. We have a windmill and the water table is only 6 or 8 feet down. So I spend a fair number of weekends goofing around with cranky windmill and well parts.



There's a remains of an old hand pump just a few feet from the windmill, but for some reason it doesn't seem to work. I pulled it apart and the dern thing is so simple, I don't even see how it can work. I may put a new one in some day.

Lehman's does have a large selection of hand pumps. I remember they also had a website last year. I havent tried recently.
